Well it seems that Kevin Lisbie will not be returning to Priestfield. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7152940,00.html He has a trial (OMG other teams give players trials. Really?) with a Championship club and dropping down to league 2 will be a bit of a jump. So that's another striker that is a no go for us. Who's left?
Probably due to his wage demands ( supposidly asking for 8k a week) more than anything else. League 1 and 2 teams with a couple of exceptions aren't likely to pay that. Be interesting to see what he does if the trials he has with championship clubs don't come off. You can't blame players wanting as much as they can get,but a bit realism has to come into it. Theres not the money about that there was, but footballers seem to live in a surreal world.
Yeah. According to The Sun yesterday thats where Kuffor is going. But these things don't always happen as newspapers say.
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2011/september/7/kevin_lisbie.aspx Update today... apparently he's Tweeted that he didn't say that he wasn't interested in the Gills..
I think your remarks are uncalled for Mighty. Bet if you lived in Roman times you'd have been the one throwing Christians to the lions. Oh hang on!
Oi mighty! what's these rumours being spread on our O/S that it might be John Marquis? quote: Subject: John Marquis my mole tells me this is our loan signing. from millwall. Yeah, see your not ing now ps. I bet mighty was the mole or is a lion, oh I'm all confused now!
A 33 year old striker who when you look at his goal scoring stats is not actually that good. Reminds me of David Graham and look what happened there.
Looks like the door isn't completely closed yet http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/g/gillingham/9584828.stm but if he's a free agent would he want to sign only a short term deal, assuming that Gills would consider him surplus to requirements when Birchall returns to fitness? On the other hand would Gills be prepared to offer him a longer contract - at least until the end of this season - in order to ensure that there are sufficient striking options, and can they afford that? From Lisbie's side, obviously he wants to get the best possible deal for himself, and as he's a free agent he needn't be in any hurry to make a firm commitment to any club. In my view, much as they might like to get Lisbie, Gills need a striker urgently, and our need for a striker is more urgent than Lisbie's need to make a decision, so I hope that there are other options under consideration / negotiation. It seems like we won't have anyone new for this Saturday, and it's frustrating seeing reports of other clubs signing up strikers on loan whilst our need remains unfulfilled.
Gone to Leyton Orient for 4 months...http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12875_7165695,00.html vinney - we posted the same time
crawley have sent wes thomas on loan to bournemouth with view to permanant deal. player who we were after at start of season till he went to crawley...if he had not gone there we may well of got him? bet it's also one of the two players hess was interested in, in our division of late! just one let down after another...not going well is it really...while points are being dropped at will!!!
Shame about Lisbie but he clearly was not that bothered about playing for us, amazing to think it was over 10 years ago when he last played for us, hopefully we will get someone like Cody who is prepared to drop down a few levels to prove how good they can be.
