With the ongoing exodus reducing the running costs at Fratton Park and the Football League payments ensuring we see out the season, what are your views as to next season's (and indeed the closed season's) prospects for the club. This article seems to sustain some of my worst fears. http://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/8437/38/ I know I may sound "defeatist" to some [if I'd been wearing a German uniform in late 1944/early 1945 I'd have been shot by now] but I've come to accept relegation and my aim is now to see a Pompey side that is able to take its place in League One next season.
Poor old Pompey may be flat out on it's back at the moment but you do have a good administrator at last who is doing what should have been done a long time ago which is to get the club living within its means plus you have a great manager who through all the adversity has been positive and working hard keeping the players positive. Ask any Saints, Norwich or Leeds fan and they will say that league 1 is not a bad place to be to regain some pride and rebuild. It is also a good way to bring back the feel good atmosphere again. I think I speak for every Saints fan when I say we have enjoyed giving you more than a little grief through this very difficult time but we really, really honestly do not want you to go out of business. So I wish you good luck in your fight to remain a league club.
Sorry to hear that dev the RSPCA always have Unwanted strays running around, i expect you had a pedigree Persian but you could drop down a league and pick up something unwanted for free too.
I think that it may well be postponement which is such a dreadful thought - like you Dev I think it's all but over Championship wise which I never expected at the start of the season - everything looked right, seemingly sensible new owners, limited, but shrewd investment and we had one of the best defences in the division - when all is said and done I just want my team to be there - wherever there ends up - and despite some not being fans Cotterill did us some favours picking up some very good players - Appy is great and I really really hope we keep him - somehow I doubt it - but for all Pompey fans remember we'll never die and lets see the season out with noise and pride, not a whimper.
We will still be around I think, but on a level with L1 clubs like Oldham, Tranmere etc; The only way back up, is through careful building. If lots of fans show up when they can and the club saves money wisely, then we can move on from there, but they (the club) must, above all else, be patient this time. Fato prudentia major, prudence is greater than fate.
The thing is godders, You, Norwich and Leeds all had an infrastructure to build on, when you dropped into league 1. We don't and on top of that, will have 29 mil of debt to Chanrai, 10mil to CSi and 2.4 to the tax payer. Plus, we still can't get rid of the high earners cos our ******s of CEO decided its a good idea to put them on long contracts with no relegation clauses. In all honesty, I think we'll be dragged along till the end of the season and then go pop. No one is going to but us. Chanrai said no, even though he just wants his moeny back. People who want to make a quick buck won't buy us because there is no money to make. Any new owner would have to cover a 10mil short fall for next season. No good businnes person would buy us for the same reasons. But toher than that PLAY UP POMPEY
