Just broken another record, becoming the BBVA's all time top goal scorer with 337 goals in 406 appearances tonight after scoring 2 goals in Barca's 6-0 demolition of Rayo Vallecano ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester City. His goals break down: • 337 goals in 406 appearances, 228 of which are in the League. • He has scored 65 Champions League goals. • He has 24 hat-tricks. • He's the youngest player to score 200 La Liga Goals. Brucey, sign him up.
I have no doubt that if Messi kept injury free in the two months prior to the Ballon D'Or then he'd have won it easily. For me, he's the greatest player to ever play the game. Is that 3 braces in a row now?
I still like Zidane more. Though it is hard to say he isn't the best. Nope but he has scored in every game but one since his return.
We've seen how good he is since 2004ish. BTW, I think Argentina will win the World Cup. That's my prediction.
I hate it when people say this. Ronaldo scored on goal in the 2010 World Cup. The goal to make it 6-0 against North Korea.
I refuse to even contemplate the thought of argentina winning the world cup i'm not such a big messifan as yous seen him in person what i will say is... his technical ability with the ball is 100% the best the world has ever seen, there's no doubt at all just hate the ****
Why? I always though Messi was more relatable and liked than a lot of other players? Doesn't dive/cheat etc.
he's an argentine for one he ain't as good as people think ronaldo is more fun to watch plus ronaldo has a lovely smile
no for the other reasons but for some reason i just can't like him for being an argentine, mainly for the other reasons though, that's just the cherry to the cupcake!
I honestly have no idea why anybody couldn't like Messi. You can't just say "just hate the ****" without backing your argument up.
I know he's been accused of tax dodging, not sure whether it was proven though. I like Messi, despite being in my opinion the best player in the world, he seems really grounded and down to earth.
So then, let's look at the other creditable reason. "he ain't as good as people think" I think quite a few important people in football disagree. Arsene Wenger - “Who is the Best Player in the World? Leo Messi. Who is the Best Player Ever? Leo Messi!” Diego Maradona – “I have seen the player who will inherit my place in Argentine football and his name is Messi. Messi is a genius and he can become an even better player.” Pele - “At the moment, Messi is the Best!” “I like Messi a lot, he’s a great player. Technically, we’re practically at the same level.” Franck Ribéry - “Messi is class. There is him, and then there is the rest. What he does is extraordinary. He demands admiration.” Xavi – “It is clear that Messi is on a level above all others. Those who do not see that are blind.” Harry Redknapp – “You couldn’t put a value on him, he’s on another planet. For me, Lionel Messi is undoubtedly the No.1 player in the world.” ”Lionel Messi is the most amazing player I have ever seen.” Samuel Eto’o – “Messi is God, as a person and even more as a player. I knew him when he was a boy and I’ve watched him grow. He deserves it all. I hope that he can win the World Cup with Argentina. He’s a good boy and I wish him all the best”. Jürgen Klopp - “Messi is the Best. There must be life out there somewhere, on some other planet. Because he is too good and we are just too bad for him.” Nicklas Bendtner – “The greatest player in the world. He’s got a fantastic vision of the game, and what he can do technically — it’s crazy.” Eric Cantona - “Messi, he’s exceptional. When you watch him, you feel there’s a child inside him and he is making some childhood dream come true. He’s a Great Player, not only for today but also tomorrow.” Gianluigi Buffon – “Messi is a once in a generation player. It’s unlikely that any human being will repeat his numbers.” Ruud van Nistelrooy – “Messi is on a different level. The fact he is doing what he is year after year says that he is the best of all time.” Gary Neville - “This Guy (Messi) is the Best Player in the World, no doubt about that. I think we’re always nervous about calling people who are currently playing, to say he’s the Best Player ever. But we shouldn’t be. We should admit what we are seeing in front of our eyes. This is a special talent, who may be is the Best Player ever been seen.” Sir Bobby Charlton - “I think now Messi is probably done more than most players. But he is in the same class as Alfredo de Stefano, Johan Cruyff, Pelé. When he finishes and he retires, he will automatically become one of them. A player that people will talk about forever, while the game of football is as good and as popular as it is. He is a sensational player.” There are more, but I wouldn't want to make your crap argument too silly.
