These have all popped up in the last hour: Defoe + Ekotto: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ir-Jermain-Defoe-and-Benoit-Assou-Ekotto.html Riise + Senderos: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-news-cottagers-weigh-up-2240886 Tom Carrol: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfers-tom-carroll-wanted-2240864
Did you read the last line in the Telegraph article "Hill was drawn to Kenny's far post like an intoxicated moth to a light". Nice one. As for the speculation - Defoe and Ekotto seem very unlikely, Riise is definitely past it, thought Senderos was long gone, why move from Fulham CB back up to QPR CB back up? Never seen Tom Carrol. Stand by for 48 hours of mayhem.
Tom Carroll was MoM on Thursday night for Spurs. Needs a season out on loan. Could easily hack it in the prem so would be brilliant to get him on loan. Ball playing centre midfielder and very creative.
To add to the speculation, a guy posted this on the QPR fans facebook page this morning: "I went to an evening with Harry Redknapp yesterday. He said the following: Barton's going west ham tomorrow he's been told unfortunately. Cesar will be back in the squad Monday as not a single team has come in for him. He's trying to get adebayor but isn't that confident. Odemwngie is a potential but he reckons he'll go Cardiff. We'll get assou-akoto." "He was openly gutted re Barton but repeated it was what he's been told about 3 times. The night was at the crowne plaza Leeds last night for Macmillan cancer trust." I believe this guy's legit, he's been confirmed as a genuine QPR fan by other posters. Whether any of the above actually happens though is a different matter- we know harry likes to jump the gun.
If Barton really is off to West Ham, then I say credit to him for that display yesterday. We will sorely miss him if true.
Barton and Scotty Parker? Can really believe it may be true.....shame, because he really is playing well...... I did wonder if this was all part of the "Barton-show", engineered to get a move (other "Barton-show" tactics include saying "I am French, I must stay in Marseille"...all in pidgin French; and I will never play in the Championship), and so if it doesn't happen we will revert to the old Barton, snappy moody, trouble in the dressing room etc. Barton could have been a legend....and with him at the helm, we could have been promoted. If he goes we need another high quality midfielder...it is going to be mayhem. What with the speculation about AJ....we could lose two of our main creative players in the next 24hrs....and creative we do not have in abundance!
How about .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2408051/Crystal-Palace-ponder-reunion-Andrew-Johnson.html The most important part states this ... "He (Andrew Johnson) may be allowed to leave Loftus Road if, as expected, QPR manager Harry Redknapp lands his top target Jermain Defoe."
Can't see us getting Defoe but even if did we need 4 strikers in the squad whereas we're currently operating with 2.5 (BZ being the 0.5)
Be disappointed if he goes as currently our main player so would need a ready made replacement which may be difficult.
Talk that WBA want Defoe, if true it will be another EPL over Championship choice and no brainer for Defoe in World Cup year. Hope we have some talent lined up, because if those above do leave our promotion chances will be severely dented. Thankfully our defensive line seems to be unaffected, they are getting a good understanding now. We need creativity and a good visionary in the middle and another striker for sure. Any other class is a bonus.
Keeping Barton and Hoilett might be more important than any new signings. Carroll sounds like he could be a good loan signing.
Senderos is ponderos. Don't believe Defoe will drop a division at this stage of his career with World Cup looming. Keeping Barton could be more important than adding any of the names mentioned. We need CB cover for chrissake, Harry!
The Times has us trying to get 1 of Defoe (£65k a week) or Adebayour (£170k a week) on loan. Levy would prefer to offload Adebayour, and would insist on a 'you buy if you go up' clause. Also confirmed the interest in Assou Ekotto. Are these really the right 'types' for this year's objective? Let's not throw all of the hard work on play roster and finances out in a panic.
