Hi gasheads Here is the link for radio Bristol who will have the press conference which should start around 4pm - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_bristol Really hope I been told right info... Ward in as manager not DOF and Tilson will be in with him as his number 2 along side Stewart. North have left the building. Discuss the conference here on this thread
John Ward offically announced as manager. Higgs said this time was vital to have someone with Rovers connections, someone who knows the passion at the club.
Ward confirmed he chose managing over being a DOF at plymouth. Ward sounds very passionate about being here with us. He is here for the rest of the season but feels he can save Rovers and plans to stay here for the next 3/4 years.
Ward confirmed he has no plans about staff. Happy Stewart is here as he knows him very well. He will chat with North and take it from there as he hasnt yet had that chance. Higgs said he was ill friday night which is why he didnt go to York. He did plan though to go to York. He didnt want to wait until Monday to sack MM and therefore he had to do it by phone after the game and he explained to MM he wouldnt normally act like this over the phone.
Higgs said he wants to bring back the Rovers values back and the passion back and he feels the only way he can do this is bring back people who has Rovers connections and have that passion for Rovers.
Ward said the supporters have a major part to play to get behind the club. It wont be easy and there are more harder days ahead but the fans need to play a part.
I thought the conference went well and I thought he spoke better than MM and came across very passionate and not just here to the end of teh season and see what happens, he is here to the end of the season but will be planning for the next 3/4 years. I think Ward was respectful about North saying he will have a chat with him and take it from there but with what I have been told and with what Higgs said that they will be bringing back more ex-Rovers in the door, me thinks North will be gone and Tilson in, maybe.
Good luck to john ward. Did you hear the radio ****** reporter ask .. How important is it for rovers to retain league status..
Yes I heard that. My palm of my hand actually slapped my own forehead at that I though there were a few stupid questions to be honest. Not enough probing questions about rumours circulating like Tilson joining. Yes Ward said he hasnt had the chance for plans for the staff but still would of asked especially when Higgs said more ex-Rovers will be coming back to help the spirit at the club to get its values and passion back.
