Since it's dead around here I thought I'd start a few arguments. My line up for Brighton would be:

    Elliot

    Tavernier Willo Colo Santon

    Obertan Abeid Gosling Ferguson

    Vuckic

    Best

Personally I think Pardew will field a more senior team than this but I think all the lads here are due some game time.

**** game time, I want to progress. Strongest lineup as possible. Although, I would rest Cabaye.

    Krul

    Simpson - Willo - Colo - Santon

    Benny - Perch/Abeid - Guthrie - Obertan

    Jonas

it will be very arrogant and disrespectful of us to put out a weakened side, and if we do we probably deserve to lose.

    -----------------Krul

    Simmo----Willo-----Colo-----Santon

    HBA-------Abeid----Guthrie--Obertan

    -----------------Vuckic

    ------------------Best

I think that would get the job done.

Nearly the exact team as me :)

Would put Jonas behind best though, see if he can keep up his good form in that role.

As much as everyone hates Obertan I think he could excel against Brighton. Fair enough they are Championship but he needs to build his confidence. I think he is a must start, Ferguson also needs a chance to show Pardew what he's made of. Vuckic is in there simply because I think that Best and Vuckic could be a lethal combination until the Dembas return.

Yes, which is why under any circumstances we shouldn't play Perch centre back lol

Because he's good with a big CB next to him.

He's **** in the air, but not bad on the ground. He did well with Saylor on the pitch vs Chelsea and dealt with Drogba quite well.

As long as we don't rely on him to win any headers, he'll be fine. Colo isn't the strongest aerial threat either.

I wouldn't risk Colo in this match,

I think Cabaye and Jonas need a rest! Especially with an away game like 4 days later. If things aren't going to plan I would definitely bring Jonas off the bench though, he has history of ripping Championship defenders a new one :p

I agree when Jonas comes back, he should be in the middle, he looks revitalised in his new position, it is crazy that we haven't played him there more in the past few years!

I'd play Colo in every match until we have enough quality to rest him

I'd like to put our strongest line up out, but we have to think about Blackburn on Wed's night. Obviously they aren't playing at the wk/nd so they will be fresh, so I'd make a few changes.

    Krul
    Taylor
    Colo
    Willo
    Santon
    Obertan
    Guthrie
    Abeid
    Vuckic
    Jonas
    Best

I'd love to start Benny, but i'd prefer him to stay nice and fresh for the Blackburn game. Same with Cabaye. Give Simpson a rest too. Still think that's a pretty strong side.

Lovenkrands + Perch at centre back won't help imo! (Maybe we'll get away with it because they are a championship team... but I really really really wanna go on a cup run!)

Definetly. I remember when we beat Coventry in the CC in our relegation season and this was early on in the season when we were playing well under Keegan - Jonas played in the role behind the striker (which was James Milner haha) and was awesome. Chelsea away last season too. Should defo play there more

That's so weird, I remember that Coventry game when Owen scored the winner in extra time. Milner scored a beauty, his price promptly doubled and we got rid <laugh>

Lovenkrands isn't a **** player. Good pace, decent passer and good crosser. He's good at CC level.

Perch and Willo could do an ok job IMO.

Yeah lol. Milner was amazing that game. We dominated the whole game - 2-0 up and threw it away and yeah, Owen scored in extra time.

Didn't Scott Dann score at both ends that game too? haha.

    Funny how you remember things.

from what i have heard on here since the draw, i think people are underestimating brighton a bit. this will be a very tricky game, they are just a couple of points below the playoffs. i aint seen the odds yet, but i'd imagine they would be fairly close and dont think we would be much lower than evens. from what i have read on their main forum, northstandchat, there full backs seem to be their weekest link so id also opt for obertan - hopefully he will have a decent time of it and get his confidence back up. we need a strong a team as reasonably possibly out or it will go the same way as our recent cup games against the likes of luton, wolves and stevenage
