Shola is ****, he had a good game vs Man Utd but he's been lazy and his usual self over the last couple of games.

The man is 6ft 3 and wins about 1/10 of his headers. Best is smaller and wins far more, is better on the ground and plays better with team and also works 10x harder.

We should play this team -

    ------------Best------------

    Jonas-------Vuckic------Ben Arfa

    -----Guthrie-----Cabaye-----

    Santon--Colo----Willo----Simpson

    ------------Krul--------------

We need to win this game. We need to keep the points increasing if we're really trying to push for 6th/7th.

Liverpool and Stoke dropped points, so It's as you were and we're lucky to stay in the same position we were last week.

    HTL!!

    STAY STRONG!!

    Simpson Willo Colo Santon

I would start your team Tash, but I would be tempted to play Obertan in the hole. I just think he would be quite good there, it means he wouldn't have to cross the ball!

But he does have to pass, something he also seems to struggle with when under pressure.

I would be tempted to play Cabaye in the hole over Vuckic, he had played there for Lille and done a good job.

    ------------Best------------

    Jonas-------Cabaye------Ben Arfa

    -----Guthrie-----Raylor-----

    Santon--Colo----Willo----Simpson

    ------------Krul--------------

If it isn't working, we are under pressure, or seeing out the game it allows us to switch to a 4-4-1-1

    ------------Best------------

    ----------Ben Arfa--------------

    Jonas--Guthrie--Cabaye--Raylor

    Santon--Colo----Willo----Simpson

    ------------Krul--------------

Note: Copied and pasted Tashes team hence why they are upside down ;)

Can we borrow Shola for tomorrow? He gave Man Utd's CB's real problems.

Right, down to business. This is the formation i would pick.

    ----------------------Krul
    Raylor-----Perch----------Colo-----Santon
    -------Guthrie----Cabaye---Gosling
    HBA-----------------Best----------------Jonas

I'm going with Perch, because he is pacier than Williamson, and you'll be facing Junior Hoilett, a pacy player, so some speed is essential. I've gone for a straight up 4-3-3. Dropping Simpson may encourage him to play better. Gosling is a CM by trade, but can drift out wide to give additional cover if necessary.

Just me Perch is rubbish plus think there is a good chance we'll have a new centre back to play with Coloccini. Also if Senegal get knocked out of the African Cup of Nations when will we have Ba and Cisse back.

I know Perch is terrible, but Hoilett will destroy Williamson. At least Perch is fairly mobile.

Trust me given the choice I would have Williamson, Perch played there in the League Cup and we lost 4-3.

Williamson just needs to be more considerate of his own lack of pace and stop trying to make challenges at the halfway line. When he keeps play in front of him, he's a decent CB, but he's absolutely useless in a footrace, or once a player has turned him.

Play the formation we did yesterday but instead of Shola play Best as the ST and play Lovenkrands where Best played.

And don't play such a high line!

Raylor in for Santon. I know that Santon is a better player overall but an example needs to be made and he was the weak link yesterday.
    Obertan in for Shola.

Same formation as in the first half against Fulham, but Best in the centre, Benny on the left, and Obertan on the right.

Gotta be Ben Arfa through the middle if we're playing one up top. Yes he got an assist and a goal but the time in between both he looked very isolated. The guy is so talented, get him through the middle and get him on the ball. Also, Jonas on the left because he stays wide and streches the defence. Also, Shola Ameobi as far away from the team as possible!

    I'd go with

    --------------------Krul---------------------

    Simmo--------Colo-------Willo----------Santon

    Raylor--------Cabaye----Guthrie--------Jonas

    -------------------Ben Arfa----------------

    ---------------------Best------------------

Which is nice and solid for an away game and gets Ben Arfa on the ball and linking with Cabaye. I know people on here are creaming over Ben Arfa on the right but I was there yesterday and I'd say he got a goal and assist inspite of position yesterday and not because of it. The person we missed most though was Tiote because we didn't have anyone moping up in front of the defence. As good as Cabaye and Guthrie are ON the ball, we needed a bit more pace and power to break play up. That said, I can't bring myself to pick Perch!!!!<laugh>

Williamson is not a bad player because we deployed a high line, we know he isnt a quick player and that was tactical suicide - has been every time we've used it.

Agree totally with this, Best is a much better lone striker than Shola, Jonas is great in the hole, HBA is actually better attacking from the right, and Obertan only looks dangerous cutting inside so putting him on the left may work.

I want a full strength team in the cup as well, no pissing about as we have a chance if we take it seriously, already City and Man U/Liverpool out.

Is it possible we will have a new CB for Blackburn, if so he might play. What about Tavernier? Cant do worse that Willo yesterday

Why should we drop Williamson? He's been brilliant since he came back, one bad result (entirely because of a high line) doesnt change that.

I agree with November Night in Rotterdam and yourself but would nobody rather play Lovenkrands than Obertan? Lovenkrands can, and has, scored in the PL and would be better wide left as opposed to Obertan..
