Line up against Arsenal

Just say we don't make anymore signings(god forbid) and we dont sell anymore players apart from Smith, Perch & Routledge.

What would your lineup be against Arsenal for first game of the season?

Simpson Taylor Colo Enrique

Barton Cabaye

Ben Arfa Ba Marveaux


Looking at that team though....we need a stronger rb than Simpson

There is nothing wrong with Simmo. Last season was his first season in the PL, and he did good. He has his flaws but that can be worked on.

We give Gutierrez, Enrique and Coloccini years to get up to standard. Simpson has already proven a decent PL right back, and deserves another season.

He has all the ability, it's just he needs to be coached differently. He backs off a bit too much at times.

His crossing is also decent and ability to over lap is also.

We don't need another RB.

I'd be pretty surprised / worried if Ben Arfa starts. Despite the '100% fit' stories that is a long long way off of competitive match fitness even if he does get a few friendlies under his belt. I'm worried that we'll stick him straight back in and he'll get muscle injuries etc that are associated with returning after that long an absence and we'll lose him for a few months.

I see what you mean, you reckon we will sign Erdinc then? Ben Arfa behind the striker probably would be his best role. I just like the thought of him cutting in on side and Marveaux cutting in another side.

Like Adam Johnson does for Citeh. A lot of defenders cant handle that.

We played one striker in the 4-4 against Arsenal, Lover was playing on the RW with Best up top on his own. Even when we beat Arsenal Shola was playing in midfield and letting Carroll stay up the field.

 

Perhaps there's a reason he hasn't played at CB since 05/06......
