Just back and having a pint to warm up.

Not much to say really- hit the ground running and 2-0 up after 5 mins- the first when their keeper passed to ruben and he slotted it away without any problem. Alessandra's was a great finish set up by RR , followed by a nailed on penalty and a good bit of pace by RR.

Lincoln weren't as bad as the scoreline suggests and Cole pulled off a couple of class saves but it was over as a contest after 5 mins and the OG in the second half finished it as a spectacle.

Gurriera was rightly the sponsors MOM despite the RR hatrick and Young also played well.

Reasons to be cheerful- the score.

    Reasons to be grumpy

    1. 2 x dickheads decided to invade the pitch with 5 mins left and wandered round while the stewards looked on- I suspect the stewards are not allowed to enter the playing surface but the didnt make any attempt to stop them in the first place. Result- no doubt we will be fined, though on the plus side I heard that they had been captured after they left the pitch-hopefully a very long banning order coming their way.

    2. I suspect we are the only club with fans that still BOO/groan when we are 4-0 up.......but they did especially when connor H passed the ball to his own team mates. Clearly the morons haven't worked out that a sideways or backwards pass means that we keep possession which prevents the other team from having the ball, and last time i played it was v difficult to score when you don't have the ball.

    3. Only 3300 in the crowd- appalling.

should be delirious after a 5-0 win but i feel strangely annoyed by the above.

Thanks for your report Lyndhurst..i was listening and it sounded so quiet and flat..but 5 goals might just quick start them for Saturday..

i liked it when Sparksie mentioned about the 94yr old trumpet player somewhere in the crowd and that he also listens to the game...with that the trumpet blew...

I hope we haven't used our goal quota up for the next six home games.

Good result but even in Div2 defences are not so generous.....I hope it boosts confidence.

I can endorse LG's report in the main.

The Lincoln CB's didn't have Reid by the shirt for 90 mins as Northampton did and he contributed much more, albeit missing a couple of chances from open play early on. What do the refs take to give them such selective vision and not see all the holding that goes on?

Otherwise, Lincoln weren't bad, kept the ball on the ground like a proper team and passed it about nicely. Argyle didn't chase the ball though but surrendered space and settled in a tight "2 rows of 4" which Lincoln couldn't penetrate. That must be why our possession stats have been looking poor - most of Lincoln's possession was shuffling it around ineffectively on the half way line until eventually they gave it back to us.

Hourihane does have some sort of gyroscope inside which causes him to turn away from the opposition whenever he gets the ball. However, as LG says, we were 2-0 up after 5 minutes (and it could have been 4) so the main objective was to avoid Lincoln getting any head of steam up and to be honest, through the 2nd half, my greatest desire and I suspect the management's was to maintain the clean sheet. To concede even one would have taken the shine off it.

Blizzard came on for the last for the last 25 and it will be interesting to see who the central two are on Saturday. I'd have an inclination for Young and Blizzard..... Alessandra was much improved playing in the hole behind Reid. As I've said before, either Boco or Alessandra but not both.

Tobe Obadeyi is like lightning. Ball skills are OK rather than top drawer but if gets a run on you, you're dead. I did wonder whether having Gurrieri on one side and Obadeyi on the other pulled their defence a bit further apart and gave Reid some room to work.

    Other thoughts:

    1) 3,300 is not that bad against 1st round non-league opposition on a cold wet Wednesday surely?
    2) Chant of the night "we're winning four nil, we're winning four nil, how ****e must YOU be, we're winning four nil". Rather unkind to all involved I thought.
    3) Cole is a shot stopper but still gives me the heebie-jeebies when the ball is in the air or he has to decide whether to come out
    4) Last goal was NOT an own goal, it was Alessandra's. I was right behind it and the defender may have deflected it by 90 degrees into the RH corner but it would have gone in the LH corner anyway. I thought in that case it was supposed to go to the player who made the shot in the first place.
    5) Daft idea of the week - playing Berry at left back. Why, oh why? Has been our best player at RB yet looked like a fish out of water on the left. Crowd on his back, unable to support Obadeyi, disaster.

    My team for Saturday:

    McCormick
RB Berry, Nelson, Trotman, LB Blackman
Gurrieri, Blizzard (if fit), Young, Obadeyi
    Alessandra
    Reid

Gulp....golly gosh....notDistant....a team without Hourihane in, I thought he was automatically put on the playing list.

I haven't hid the fact that I cannot workout why he is always picked.....never missed a match this season....yet there are question marks against the mid-field supporting the strikers....it can't always be the others who let the side down surely ?

Home to Welling Utd in Round Two, so should be a good bet for a place in Round Three and a potential big pay day

defo thought it was an own goal-looked to me like it was missing by a mile from block 11 but i will defer if you had a better angle ND. Agree all yr other points except the crowd- if we made the effort, why not everyone else?, and I still think connor h should be first on the team sheet- so there.

Hourihane has been our best and most consistant player this season by a mile. Saw the goals on the news tonight and have to say that it looked an own goal on there but then it was not a favourable angle to view it. Is that 2 games you've been to recently you little tinker you notdistant? I did think about going but there were several reasons why I didn't in the end. Most importantly it was a crap night weather wise and it is not so long ago I was in hospital. My Mrs thought it wasn't a good idea. Other being £15 for a replay against non league opposition seemed a bit steep to me. Thought £10 might have been a fairer price but I also think that Brent still believes people are daft enough to pay more. I think a couple of years ago he would be right but no more.

No worrries sensible, you and no doubt lots more count as 'special cases' who have very good reasons not to attend. I just think it odd to have so few there. No doubt if/when we get a glamorous home tie to a top premiership side there will be lots of people having a go at JB because they cant get tickets.....sadly I am in the camp that will watch every match possible that involves argyle-and i have watched some real rubbish over the years, but that at least gives me the ability to gauge how good (or not) the current lot are, rather than some who dip in and out of being a 'fan' depending on which way the wind blows (present company excepted).

    1) Definitely not an OG Lyndhurst, as I remember there was a melee at the near post before the ball came out to Alessandra on the far, so the keeper was out of the game and the defender who put it in was the last man. I was looking right along the line of the original shot and it was going into the bottom left corner. Still, 5-0 is 5-0 but I'd be a bit miffed if I was Alessandra.

    2) I have to say Hourihane did seem to turn away from promising situations time after time.

    3) Three games actually Sensible, Fleetwood (2-0 defeat), Northampton (1-0 win) and Lincoln (5-0 drubbing). I feel I'm on the right trajectory here. I told you I was coming to live in Plymouth..... Good news is that I was pressurised by my two female superiors to get tickets for the game, so it looks like they've been bitten by the bug too. The plan was to go to the Dagenham game but the senior of the two has had her hair appointment changed, from 9:00 am until 15:45, including erection of scaffolding.

Thanks Sensible, it is a pleasure to be back albeit I should be on the other side of the Tamar for a proper job. Good to be able to go to Home Park again without a 10 hour drive.
