The 21-year-old prodded GB ahead from close range in their first ever Olympic final after excellent stick work from Sophie Bray, but the Dutch turned the match on its head thanks to goals from Kitty van Male and Maartje Paumen - both from penalty corners. Crista Cullen slapped home an equaliser for GB in the second quarter and Nicola White sent the tie to a shoot-out following another strike from van Male. GB keeper Maddie Hinch, who had earlier saved a penalty stroke, was in inspired form saving the Netherlands’ first two attempts, as was counterpart Joyce Sombroek. However, the Dutch stopper presented Helen Richardson-Walsh the opportunity to make it 1-0 to Britain from a penalty flick after fouling Sophie Bray in her penalty effort. Hinch saved another Netherlands penalty and England international Hollie Webb stepped up to seal gold for Britain against the defending and three-time Olympic champions. The win for the Women’s hockey side means Team GB have now won 23 gold medals in Rio. http://www.bristol-sport.co.uk/news/owsley-wins-gold-at-rio-olympics/
