Must admit to being surprised at Britt being allowed to go but bet the buy back clauses are watertight. Anyway with the type of players we're now bringing in and the type we're selling on it makes me think we've changed in our cattle reering position in the big football picture. We were a club that bred players from its mothers arms to the point of getting into championship football and then sold on the better stock to the prem settling with a balance of less desirable players and growing youth. We're now in a period of building the bull stock to provide the basis for future rearing of the type of talent we sold on to bring it through to the next level. Its a process and not an easy one but you know I think we have the right model and the right people. Noones bigger than the club but the little one is key to the new Watford way in my mind, exciting times and good to revel in our players success in their new clubs knowing that they may still benefit the club by returning under favourable conditions one day and that with the vast pool of the Pozzo football farm to draw upon we have stock to fill the gaps left without inviting a season fighting relegation.... COYH 2013-2014 a fine vintage harvest beckons, 100+ goals yes please....
Actually this would make a great April Fool's. The Pozzo's latest project is to collect the semen from great footballer's from the past and artificially inseminate athletic women. The long term goal is to create a group of naturally gifted footballers who can then be distributed amongst teams owned by the Pozzos. The women will be moved to whichever country is needed, to give birth, so that national requirements for the various leagues are met. A spokesman for the Pozzos is quoted as saying, "The object is to keep our players in-house from birth to conception. This is the future of football given the spiralling costs involved in transferring players."
Joey Barton's offer of his services in the breeding programme has been rejected. It is understood that he was told that, whilst he has all the attributes required for producing a sample, he lacks the footballing skills wanted.
