Regardless of what people say about his passing, which to be honest gets blown out of proportion, he isn't that bad at passing, but it isn't his game. I may get shot down for this but its what i think, without marvin our teams looks unbalanced and lacking in physical presence, you take stead out the team and there isn't one player to kick it up too. Marv gives us this presence in our box and there's, he tracks his man down very well and puts his tackles is perfectly, he gives 100% all the time and regardless of what people say about cisse he cant do it all, Pearson looks good but sometimes he makes terrible decisions, more of a wide player than central. i for one am missing marv and feel the team would be better with his name on the sheet. As for the goalkeeping department, as i was leaving the east end i was talking to a chap and he said if james gets his contract renewed he wont be getting a season card next season (i will regardless of player/league) and when i separated from him i started talking to 2 other people who said this is the worst city side they've ever seen and james should be dropped, whilst in the east end i always here for james's head, and now ive had enough of him. The blokes had almost 20 years at the top and yet he made that mistake which cost us the game, the 2nd goal he could of done a lot better and for the rest of the game he looked DREADFUL, i mean really bad his kicking was crap along with his passing. IMO Deano should start for the remainder of the campaign Anyway we have to go to boro now where we haven't had that bad of luck the 2-2 in the fa cup 0-0 there first season in the champ 2-1 last season (marvin spectacular) so lets keep the faith please log in to view this image
Everyone's entitled to their opinion mate! Mine's pretty much the total opposite but hey ho Seeing as I think Marv is the epitome of everything that is wrong with our current squad's lack of quality on the ball. His passing truly is abysmal, trapping of the ball is erratic at best and for all that he gets his head to the ball it's anyone's guess where it'll actually go. As for tracking his man i've lost count of the number of times he gets caught out of position and has to bust a gut to get back. Cisse and Pearson are a decent middle two and i'd like to see them stay the same. Just lacking two wingers who can track well and retain possession and we'd have a pretty good midfield then. If we're in league 1 next year Marv is fine, if we're in the championship then it's a place on the bench to make way for hopefully better players.
Sorry Shiny but I agree with Jambo, I just don't rate him and think when he was playing in the 5 man midfield we weren't any good, and I definitely would not put him above Cisse so can't see him playing much! He is not gifted to play as a creative player and like Jambo says he seems to close his eyes when heading or passing the ball so it goes anywhere. Sorry mate nice speech but he is not the answer
Shiny - We miss Marv. For all his so called faults he's exactly the type you'd appreciate playing alongside, if you did you'd respect him even more (if possible). In the 8 battles we have left Marv and Cisse in CM would have given us a fighting chance. If/when we go down you can bet your life Marv will be wanted by more than 1 Championship club. ps - Marv was/is the first on the team sheet for GJ, SC, KM and now McInnes. Shiny - you're in better company than those who think Marv isn't worth his place.
I agree with you shiny.. Hes not the most cultured CM in the world but he's the best we got at the moment. Pearson is ok but his problem lies in the fact he is so badly left footed.
split down the middle, everyone wanted stead in due to his work rate, i know we cant have marv back but i wish he was!
marv and cisse i think is best option we got in midfield but as we not got marv i think we do miss him so think he needs youth in there to hurry about the opposition like marv does
I like Cisse, always have, but for a manager he may be a little inconsistent.. The side that was out there last night was a decent side on paper, but such a fragile confidence is easily broken and we don't have a real 'get at em' aggressive leader. Kilkenny makes a lot of noise but just gets on peoples tits We need someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dictate to a few, we have too many players who are floating along with it all..
