Hope he isn't the Pompey player on £30k+ per week!!! But if true he could be a real boost in our quest for promotion. Okay he is 30 but gets around the pitch well and always shows good commitment. Just seen the above comment to confirm the move. We still need a winger and cover for Kenny but its a good start.
Oh dear http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4006915/Ace-Liam-Lawrence-butts-fan-in-booze-club-row.html
i've saw a bit of him when he played for stoke, not quick, but good delivery from set pieces, experience, the reason we've signed him is obvious, pompey need to move on the big earners, i doubt we've paid a loan fee, just wages, i agree with sheep i think its a good signing, cowie has played every game this season and lawrence can enable a bit of rotation
Got to be honest, I'm not at all sure about him, seems he likes a drink or 2, he had to have surgery following an accidental fall in a nightclub and as per my post above he rec'd a police caution for a headbutt, Pompey lads don't sound to upset to be losing him.
i would have thought pompey would be desperate to make any savings they can, they have almost no bargaining power. i just found this lol: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29022012/63/lawrence-committed-pompey.html sounds encouraging
This is a shrewd bit of business.Pompey get a lifeline,we in turn protect the four points gained from our two games and get a quality midfielder.Rejoice!Rejoice.
Chopra with attitude. Not sure we're scraping the barrel, but we do need some extra bodies. A couple of old heads won't go amiss. I think I'd rather a signing like this rather than another youngster. Cover for Miller and that's us about done I think. I still think MM is looking beyond this season and possibly another season in the Championship. Depending on his performances with us, there may be a permanent deal come the end of the season. The administrator was saying yesterday they can't see Portsmouth playing to the end of the season as the money is forecast to run out mid April. Could turn into a free transfer.
ccfc I've thought the same. I'm sure Malky doesn't want to go up and come straight back down again as he doesn't have the right team to stay up. So maybe we move on another 5 or 6 in the summer and replace them with higher quality players for next season. In itself that is a risk strategy due to the unpredictability of the Championship but it is obvious Malky is building piece by piece and I seem to recall him saying he saw this as a 2 to 3 year project - or words to that effect. I still think Lawrence is a good signing. Experienced, knows the division well, is a hard working, strong tackling player with no little skill and can also take pressure off Whitts in dead ball situations. He defintiely strengthens the squad.
Now West Ham need to do a deal for Kitson to protect their six points and Pompey can complete the season.
