I liked this from RangerKIK........... And there it was 10 minutes from time and we are so devoid of an attacking threat that we are reduced to shooting from 45 yards out. The ball whistles into the top of the stand and to a man the Rangers fans stand up and leave throwing their season tickets and scarves behind them as they go. BUT no Matty Philips has another idea. He's very, very angry and in one glorious moment the frustration he feels and the frustration of a thousand Rangers fans, channels into his right leg . The frustration of being humiliated by a club with nowhere near our resources, the frustration of all the season long missed oppertunities, the frustration of no committment away from home, the frustration of Redknapp's early season tedious list of excuses, the frustration of players being played out of position, the frustration of years of shocking management at all levels, the frustration that Fernandes 'writing the debt off loophole' will not actually work after all AND finally the frustration that Charlie Austin, the one bright light in a truly dismal season, will not be around next campaign. And as the ball hit the back of the net it felt good, very good. A fleeting release of all of that angst. The sort of feeling you get when after spending all day trying, but failing, to get the flat pack Ikea furniture doors to close you finally give up and smash the whole thing to pieces with a hammer. Phillipps I salute you. You gave us all 30 seconds respite from the tedium. If only the passion and swagger you showed in that all too brief moment had been with the team all season long how different things would be.
I enjoyed that summary of the game Found it difficult to celebrate that wonder goal because Phillip's defending for their 3rd goal was an absolute disgrace. Have our players forgotten how to tackle? All this jockeying garbage and no-one prepared to put their foot in. Truly baffles me. This was the strongest indication yet that we are well and truly down.
It's not a Report. He's yet another drama Queen. A story. Everything built up to make a good yarn down the pub. The reality of Phillips other very good saved attempt a few minutes after he scored, don't even get mentioned, probably because it doesn't quite fit the story. Yawn. .
That read like a season summary rather than a match report. All too true though and brutally damning in equal measures.
SWP got stuck in at times yet when he did make a foul then the QPR chanted off off off I don't see that as good As he put in more challenges than Hoilett and Phillips have done recently in just one match
CR is quoted as saying about the same. I agree Furlong and Yun were about as bad, but they were all 3 crÆpp.
You cannot defend SWP because he was utter sh@t. The only reason the BT sport never said how bad he is, was because Ian Wright was on the commentary team and they were all sucking up to him. You cannot have a go at Furlong as he is young and had SWP ahead of him. Yun has gone backwards but unlike SWP has had a few good games. As for the worse player on the day, it is a thin line between SWP/Yun
I always look forward to his match reports. I find them insightful and, when I have seen the match in question, accurate. He has a lovely turn of phrase which raises a smile even when the subject matter is funereal.
Even acknowledged the not606 appreciation society on the Podcast. I like your style Clive, but that may not be a compliment from me.
