I was going to post this on the make more noise thread, but I think it deserves it's own place to be read.

This is Clive's thoughts on the clubs noise initiative.......it's some rant but makes a hell of a lot of sense......

Winning the League Cup as a Third Division team, the plastic pitch, Terry Venables’ tactical revolution, Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles, Roy Wegerle, Ray Wilkins and Peter Reid together in the same midfield at the same time, guns in the boardroom, the Four Year Plan, wealthy supporters buying players when the club is skint… Queens Park Rangers have always been a bit unusual and innovative one way or another. And this week they’ve been at it again, openly admitting the atmosphere at home matches is poor and needs improving with the low key launch of a ‘Make Some Noise’ campaign.

Two things to start with: firstly, this was an idea born from supporters initially and voiced in a meeting with our excellent CEO Lee Hoos, rather than something the club cooked up itself; and secondly, the atmosphere at our home games is absolutely terrible - almost morgue-like. Nevertheless, in openly admitting and publicising that, QPR are placing a gun to the head of football’s sacred cow and squeezing the trigger. You do not, ever, under any circumstances, intimate that the football supporters don’t back their team loudly enough. Even if it’s true – as it clearly is at QPR at the moment – you do not ever say it. They get very antsy about it.

Good write and agree about standing. But I'm really bored with all the winging. The last comment I could read about the many electric atmospheres after the Chelsea game is spot on.

    Good article
The only thing in their control is the lower loft issue

I think the article is a great analysis and really hope that the powers that be read it.

I would really advocate safe standing. It is a much more intense footballing experience (for those that want it) and is a catalyst for more interaction.

    He writes well as usual.
Despite all, there was more noise in the Q,P and R blocks.
It would only take a little bit of decent footie and a run of a few wins to get the atmosphere going again.
Chelsea in the FA cup would help too!!

A good piece, most of which I would agree with. The family stand being in the lower loft is just stupid and should be changed. Hoos seems to me to be too inflexible on such issues.

Very well written piece and I can't disagree with anything Clive has written. I would like to add one thing that he didn't mention, and that is today's youngsters are exposed to massive coverage of the premier and champion's leagues by both Sky and BT they are not interested in lower league football. A couple of presses on their remotes and they are at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge, watching the top players in the world. Why would they want to go out into the cold and wet and watch not very successful QPR?
