Ring the changes for this one. Give as many a rest before a tough December where have 8 games in 23 days including United and arsenal. Kelleher - rest up Ali Gomez Matip/Konate (depending on who plays next weekend) Quansah Tsimikas (then chambers if ahead to rest) Endo Jones Elliott Doak Nunez Gakpo
must win game after the debacle last match day. it's actually quite hard to call what we will do. i didn't see much of a threat out of this lot away from anfield so I can see them sitting deep, however they simply must win this game. a draw is no use to them and they really need toulouse to draw as well as their own win to have any hope on the last day of second in the group. kelleher yes gomez maybe chambers/scanlon? bit of a risk konate, a must quansah, I have total confidence in gravenberch 100% endo, he will do. Elliott at rcm or rw. hmmmm Jones can play cm. diaz is due a start gakpo is due a start. I think we should push Elliott on to rw rather than start doak. we will see. trent, Szoboszlai, salah and nunez need to be wrapped in cotton wool here if we can at all. the other thing is it is Fulham at home next weekend so we really want to get a run going.
some squad hints from the u21s. Marcelo Pitaluga did not play in u21s. thats 3rd keeper sorted Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlan did not play. those are lb options James McConnell did not play. thats a cm option all absent Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon who are only back from injury got no minutes. only time will tell as lask seems.miles too early to risk these.
we might or might not secure that. Its out of our hands. Win and Toulouse must win. If Toulouse win then its down to the last day and we need a pint away to top this group If toulouse draw then the win gives us the top spot. If we draw (that would be terrible result) then a toulouse win puts them joint top but we top the group on head to head but again the 2nd place is assured. lose and its a joke
Alisson out for a couple of weeks. Likely to miss LASK - Wouldnt play anyway Fulham Home sheff United away Palace away union away (wouldn’t play) Then back for United hopefully
NEWSAlisson Becker and Diogo Jota injury update please log in to view this image Jürgen Klopp has confirmed both Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota are facing spells on the sidelines due to injury. Alisson and Jota each sustained issues during last weekend’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester City. Asked for an update on the pair at his pre-LASK press conference today, the manager said both are unavailable for Thursday’s fixture and beyond. “Both are out,” said Klopp. “With Ali it’s a bit lesser, so we have to see – not day by day, he will not play tomorrow, not on Sunday, probably not the week after. Then it should be kind of OK. “Diogo will take a little bit longer, we don’t know exactly how long, but it’s a bit more severe. We have to see.” On whether Alisson’s injury specifically is not as bad as initially feared, Klopp added: “No, but bad enough. Bad enough.” Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota injury update - Liverpool FC
For me Jota is a good solid player but he is very injury prone and is in the same basket as Thiago for me. We need to be looking at moving both on imho Klopp is known to work the players hard and injuries are going to happen so if the player is fragile - they need to be moved on
I would not say jota was worked very hard by either us nor his country PLayed one of 2 portugal games in the break 83 mins v brentford 9mins v toulouse recently 66mins v luton 9 total v bournmouth in the league cup 58 v forest 90 v toulouse at home 90 v everton portugal about 35 mins over 2 games. suspended v brighton for spurs debacle 90 v union for me thats a managed player and hes still gone down injured I think its worse that saying he's fragile, hes proven to not be up to it and klopp has not even worked him hard.
All modern players are worked hard in comparison to the past. They are also given the training, dietary and medical regimen to help them deal with it, but everyone's built differently and some cope better than others. Or perhaps some are just luckier than others. We have a lot of players who are injured quite frequently, so do other clubs.
I am not really sure about this as compared to a championship player this is a dolly of a life? You can be right about luck. Jota did a serious tear on the hamstring so that means scarring and that means reoccurrences are more likely. Some players can cruise through (looking form the outside) but are just managing issues all the time and don't jump into the massive issue category. The prime example of this is salah, i refuse to believe he's not carrying lots of knocks but he won't stop. Suarez was the same. ON the other hand you've the Sturridge and Kieta type who can't sneeze without thinking their leg has come off. Jota seems an honestly lad but he's turning 27 in the next week and he's been managed for the last year as a good players for us. He's still got that injury and could be 2 months for all we know. I reckon if you are playing about 50% of the time but still getting crocked there's some issue somewhere. BTW on big al. I don't think he is a very good man for the warm ups and i really think he's kicking has never been the same since that first injury. Its actually a surprise to me he's not injured more. On the other hand Kelleher seems made of glass.
So just need to win today and hope Toulouse don’t win their game and we’ve got top spot sewn up before final game. That last minute disallowed goal really ****ed us over as that would give us 10 and Toulouse 5 meaning a draw tonight would have been enough no matter what other results are as we’d better tolouse on h2h
yup. But it was our own fault. we were well down in that game 0-2 against a bunch of no hopers? no excuses for that. we did it to ourselves long before var stuck its oar in.
