Never heard of it before so looked it up and it does seem to be the Magnus effect. You learn something every day.

With regard to Thiago, he's an exceptional talent. Every now and again, maybe even once a game, he gives the ball away and everyone is on his case but what he brings to the game far, far outweighs any small errors he makes.
