http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/reds-make-academy-coach-changes Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Rodolfo Borrell as head of academy coaching, with Tottenham's Alex Inglethorpe replacing him as reserve team coach. Borrell arrived at the club in July 2009 and has overseen the development of several players now in the first team, initially as U18s coach and latterly as boss of the reserves. His promotion has created an opportunity for Inglethorpe, a former midfielder with Watford, Leyton Orient and Exeter who has worked with the U18s at Spurs with distinction for several years. Frank McParland continues with his role as Academy director, with first-team manager Brendan Rodgers praising his contribution to the club's continued commitment to developing exciting young talent. Rodgers commented: "I'm delighted that Alex has decided to join us in our journey to create a philosophy that runs directly through the club. He has many years of experience in youth football and also managed at senior level. His unswerving belief and commitment to our way of working will bring continued success in this role. "I've been extremely impressed with Rodolfo in my short period at the club. His thinking is very similar to mine in the best way to educate and develop players. His role will make richer the philosophy we are creating at the club from U9s through to the first team. "I'm also delighted with the great work done by Frank McParland in leading the Academy and I look forward to working closely with him to continually develop our talents to play for the first team." The appointments have been welcomed by McParland. "I'm delighted for Rodolfo," he said. "He's been heavily involved with the club for three and a half years as U18s manager and then reserve team coach. "He brings invaluable experience to this new role and I'm sure it's going to be a smooth transition. "Alex also has great experience from working with the U18s at Spurs for many years, where he has helped to produce some fantastic players. "I'm sure he is going to help us push on at academy level. It's a fantastic appointment and I'm looking forward to working with him over the coming years." Thoughts?? I'm thinking of going up Liverpool way next time we play with an Inglethorpe out poster - how dare we hire a spuds man [/sarc]
Quickest derailing of a thread ever Chuffed for RB getting promoted by BR Just reward for a man who by all accounts has become a bit of an "adopted scouser". Don't know much about the Spurs fella but if he's had much impact on their recent youth he must have been doing something right. There are a few spuds on the match thread who might be able to give an insight into the fella
Thanks mate. On SC they all seem to have a very high opinion on Alex so it looks like a shrewd move on our behalf. I'm absolutely chuffed Borrell is in charge of the whole playing side of the academy. Lets hope he does what he did with Barca at their academy and get everything linked up all the way from the U9s right up to the first team.
Cheers Spurf this time last year this match thread was brutal btw seemed to be a lot of vitriol between the fans (passion too of course) which seemed a bit weird to me. Never had much problems with Spurs fans home or away personally.
My hips are fine sonny. It's my knees that are twatted. You may be old one day. That is if I don't fu.king kill you
Lets hear what exactly you base this on...my guess is if he walked past you in the street you wouldn't have a clue.
You don't know me mate. That was sarcasm specially for one of our trans-atlantic brethren. I wan't having a pop at your/our guy
1. is being effective u21 coach and going to head of coaches at the academy a ste up or a step down? 2. is the guy coming in to be judges on players brought into the spuds first team or by results or what? I presume RHC was being sarcastic really.
I see! He's a good bloke who we think has become a casualty of the Redknapp regime clearout. There's been a new broom shoved through our place top to bottom, loads of scouts have gone too.
He's ****ing shocking. His transfer record is absolutely shocking, he plays defensive football always with 2 holding midfielders and he's a stubborn **** with shocking man management skills. I am firmly in the Inglethorpe out group.
