Pompey will be aiming to book their spot in the last 32 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy when they visit Leyton Orient this evening (7pm kick-off). John Mousinho’s side currently sit top of Southern Group E after collecting five points from their opening two matches against Fulham U21s and Gillingham at Fratton Park. And even a defeat by two goals would not be enough to prevent the Blues from progressing into the knockout stages. But they know that collecting two points (although, realistically, one would probably be enough) would guarantee top spot and a home draw in the next round. The two sides have already met once this season and the Londoners have improved since losing 4-0 in the capital back in August. Marlon Pack, Colby Bishop and Kusini Yengi all found the target for the visitors, with an Omar Beckles own-goal thrown in for good measure. Richie Wellens’ side have since climbed up to 14th in the League One table and beat Carlisle in the FA Cup on Saturday. Former Fratton loanee Joe Pigott was among the scorers to set up a trip to Pompey’s conquerors Chesterfield in the next round. In the event of a draw after 90 minutes, both sides will collect a point. A penalty shoot-out will then be held, with the winners earning a bonus point. TEAM NEWS Tino Anjorin (hamstring), Josh Dockerill (knee), Connor Ogilvie (ankle), Marlon Pack (ankle), Regan Poole (knee) and Anthony Scully (knee) are all sidelined. Both sides are expected to make multiple changes to their sides after being in FA Cup action at the weekend. Pompey have made wholesale changes to their match day squad. Ex-Pompey loan player Joe Piggott is on the O's bench.
Half time whistle. 0-1 to Pompey, with a 44th minute goal scored by Christian Saydee, from a Kusini Yengi pass. In the 19th minute, Sean Raggett was sent off for a tackle just outside the box. The player went down like a sack of spuds ! The tackle merited a yellow card only to my mind.
