A bit of both really: Charlton: Hamer; Wilson, Taylor, Cort, Evina; Green, Hollands, Kerkar, Cook; Wagstaff, Smith. Subs: Sullivan, Solly, Morrison, Jackson, Pritchard, Wright-Phillips, Hayes. The trouble with these sort of selections is not that the players are that much inferior but that they have never played together in that formation. Straight 4-2-4 but experimenting with Wagstaff as a striker. So why not Haynes? Odd really. I would expect Hamer, either Taylor or Cort, and Hollands to start at Birmingham so they are not being "protected". I expect Hollands and one of the CBs (probably Cort) to be subbed at half-time or soon after.
Millwall 1 -1 with Crawley. Palace 1 -1 at Exeter. Charlton 1 - 0. Created by Cook, who is doing well, shot by Wagstaff wickedly deflected into the net after 30 minutes.
If there is a MOD around, please delete this thread as I see Eastbourne Addick started one the same minute as I did. We don't want two.
Mooney wins a penalty and then hits the bar with it. Sounds as though only Cook is taking the chance to impress.
Not worth it's own thread- but just watching the top 50 premiership moments- and Martin prothero pops up! Michael proctors 3 own goals against us also made the list
Evening all. Just home after a golf day and catching up. Glad to have the footy back to talk about. Looks like not missing much at the valley. Need extra time like a hole in the head. Really don't care about this trophy other than to give our fringe players a go but it would be bad for morale to start the season with a defeat
Extra time being played. Pritchard for Kerkar. The fact that Hollands hasn't been subbed suggests he is not in the frame for Birmingham. Stephens as defensive midfielder? No thanks. And they are saying Cort and Taylor are looking tired. One of those is going to be required for Birmingham. Jackson and BWP on at halftime in extra-time.
I have to say, at this late stage, what is the point of bringing JJ and BWP on and risking them for Saturday? Now watch them score.
Penalties. Orient win 4 - 3 on penalties. Jackson and Taylor miss. What a shambles. Worst of all outcomes. I don't think CP learned much from this one. Only Cook impressed. Millwall out on penalties to Crawley.
Anyone put a bet on tonight? I had £60 on Plymouth at 4/6 to beat Pompey, 3-0 in the end, feel sorry for Pompey but gladly taking advantage.
