Orient joined the Football League Second Division in 1905, finishing bottom in their first season. They finished bottom again in 1929, this time being relegated to Third Division South, where they stayed until 1956, when they went up as champions. They spent 10 years outside the ‘lower leagues’ spending a single season in the top flight (1962-63). After drifting between the Second and Third divisions, they finally suffered relegation to the Fourth Division [League Two] for the first time in 1985, 3 years after their last in the 2nd tier. They have been in League One since 2006. During their history they have been Leyton Orient, Clapton Orient and just plain Orient. This was the first time a member of royalty had attended a Football League match. Match Odds (at Skybet) Pompey 13/10 L. Orient 21/10 Draw 23/10 Mystic Devo Pompey really are on a rotten run. Things can only get better! (? ). The O’s aren’t faring too much better, having lost 4 of their last 6! The signing of Ricardo Rocha is a boon for Pompey – the rot stops here! Devo reckons: Pompey 2-0 Leyton Orient
The O's won their last match against Carlisle 4-1 so they will be feeling a whole lot more confident than we are. However we have a good reader of the game back even if he's not yet match-fit in Ricardo and a new striker to team up with McLeod so things are not quite so gloomy. Still not feeling confident that we will be back on a winning streak yet though. Glass half full for the club - glass half empty for the team is how I'm feeling at the moment.
Interesting one- if the O's win last weekend was no fluke, it could be a very tough game for us. Hopefully, now the rock Ricardo Rocha is back, we'll get a much-needed clean sheet- and a goal from Izale to give us a 1-0 victory .. PUP
Swedish chef here, as my predictions are usually way out, I will go for a boring 0-0 draw in horrible weather conditions. Maybe we will then be set for a thriller and bag the points for Pompey!PUP
There were positive signs that Guy's starting to turn things around in the last match - we really should have had at least a draw with all the chances we had - and the return of Rocha should add some much needed steel to out defence - though I read he's starting on the bench against the Orient - so I'm quietly hopeful for the next match. I'm going to go for a 2-1 Pompey win
For G'd's Sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We just missed another penalty- Izale McLeod's weak penalty was saved by Allsop. We're just throwing oppurtunities away ....
Must be approaching 500 minutes without a goal! At least Hartlepool are losing so you won't be bottom.
If this was meant sarcastically- the rock wasn't on the pitch when the goal went in. He came on just minutes after though- he replaced Gabor Gyepes. So it wasn;t Rocha's fault at all, that we let in a goal
What on earth made you think I was being sarcastic PL Stewie? It was a statement of fact - Rocha has already made his presence felt - made a few clearances for us already.
2-0 down now - pleased I'm not feeling too well today, so didn't attend match tonight. Stayed at home in the warm, with a glass of Famous Grouse........
It must have been lost in translation! Sorry about that! 2-0 down and we've lost again, we all know that- and there's like 40 minutes to go
