Lewis Hamilton came third today as Mclaren showed more Promising pace.

He completed 93 laps today but only a maximum of 16 in a row at one stage. This means that Mclaren have no race pace data as they should have done a full race stimulation, but Red Flags and precautionary checks put a stop to that.

"Today I had a couple of long runs but they weren't real race simulations," said Hamilton.

"I was getting overtaken a lot by other cars. It's always important at the beginning of the season in testing to get pitstops in and do a real race simulation. If you can do two in a day it's fantastic."

He remains confident that McLaren can resolve the reliability problems it has had so far.

"Any reliability issue is a concern, but I feel like I've got great people around me, who will be able to solve whatever issues they have," said Hamilton.

"Bit by bit we've been able to solve whatever problems we've had and that's how we work. Of course we'd love to have no problems, but then it would be easy.

"We had a couple of technical issues which we were able to sort out and we did 90-odd laps today so that's an improvement, a step for us.

"We managed to get through a couple of long-ish runs but of course we want to get more mileage on the car so we'll try and do that tomorrow. It's a work in progress, we have more time to come."

I couldn`t find any site that had a full run down of Lewis`s laptimes but if any one finds them feel free to post them.

I'm not so sure about McLaren. I think that their car is too radical and they could suffer as a result.

They should have done what Red Bull and Ferrari did - take a proven concept and evolve it.

The problem they have is that last years car wasn't really ideal. They've gone out for a radical car and we'll have to see how that works out for them

The mclaren supposedly had the best KERS and F-DUCT systems but that fact hasnt broken their 12 year wait for a WCC! infact if they hadn't of been caught spying that duct would have been broken with a reletivly normal F1 car.
