Done right it is an absolute money machine. We supply an Academy in Buckinghamshire with 700+ kids across a variety of levels and the owner told me the parents pay £35 a month as a basic fee and he has a waiting list of people wanting to snap up places. Only him and one other are on the payroll, all other coaches are volunteers. The parents have to buy the kit from us on top of the basic fee as well as travel for the JPL teams. boots, accessories etc. Must cost them a small fortune to have a kid in there. It is not silly to suggest someone with the popularity of Lewie he could earn more from this a week than football in the end. It is really easy to scale up and franchise. Would imagine he is one of the lower earners at City.
A few ex-City players are in this business. Simon Johnson and David Norton are two that spring to mind.
Adam Bolder has a really successful one. Tried to get my lad in with Adam for ages for 1 to 1 but he is always fully booked.
He does'nt need to, coaches want to be there as much as the kids. They have fed players into clubs all over the South for years so the coaches want to be a part of it a few evenings a week. I've considered doing some stuff with a pro club at Under 9s on a volunteer basis. I earn enough from my day job and I love coaching. The problem I see is the travel as it is an out of town role and would mean me seeing less of my own kids, I already coach twice a week in Hull. A lot of the Pro clubs including City have volunteers coaching the kids, there is a job on their website right now for our West Yorkshire satalite academy.
He's on the academy staff, yes. Didn't he also start his own academy in Hull a while back? Not sure if it got off the ground.
Timing might seem a bit odd, but I guess it's simply something that's in the DNA of them Coyles. Wanting to do good for kids around here. Simple as. Heaven knows it's needed these days. Good luck to him and the rest of their family with the great work they do. https://lewiecoylefootballacademy.com/our-mission
With footballers setting up academies and NHS surgeons giving Stev Rico a circumcision on their kitchen table for £50, it seems like everyone has got a side hustle nice little earner nowadays. I've been paying upkeep for a gay ram for the last five years that won't **** the sheep.. time for a phone call to the abbatoir.
