That's according to the BBC website. Not exactly a world-beating headline. What is interesting are Harry's claims that no talk of a new contract has been forthcoming, and no talk of money for new players (or even keeping the players we have). One rather senses that Harry still has it in his mind to stay at Spurs, but only if he gets a few financial concessions. This is not something that Fergie will be happy to hear, as he has been championing Harry for England, in the hope that we will be greatly weakened as a result. This could work out very nicely for us. Not only may we get to keep Harry and the likes of Bale and Moddy, but we may, finally, get New Striker!
I think the reports are making more of the fact of one being put together, it would be logical, or would it? Would Levy heap more mental pressure on Harry in having to make a decision, which if he did, i can almost guarantee Harry's response, "I'd rather discuss it at the end of the season"...Levy then has a THFC based decision to make. Levy's silence is fascinating.
Notso isn't this a typical Levy type of scenario. He never does any sort of Spurs business via the media. When he does stuff its all behind closed doors to lessen media interference. Whatever the papers and the tv experts say they don't really know what is going on they're guessing.
His attempt to keep it quiet were undone by Alex Ferguson using a press conference to talk about the letter the FA sent to all Premier League managers to stop speculating who should be the next England manager, which the FA sent out after Levy requested the FA stop Premier League managers talking about 'Arry in relation to the England job. Are they going to fine the bacon-faced prick for it? Of course not - nor will they give him the most poetic punishment, and make him England manager for the Euros...without pay. That'll learn 'em!
Redknapp's allowed to discuss the England job though, Lidls. Ferguson isn't allowed to link someone that's already in a job with it. His petulant revelation to the media just shows that Man Utd's motto extends to the spineless Premier League officials and he certainly does do what he wants.
Meanwhile, nobody is making something of the fact Roy Hodgson is stalling on renewing his West Brom contract - with Lord Triesman being the voice of...well, not reason (given his libellous comment about Russians bribing referees to favour the Spanish at the last World Cup) by saying he'd be the perfect choice. Natursally, the journalistically challenged haven't picked on on this...
Hold the front page! NEW SHOCKER! "Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admits he is not sure whether he wants to be the new England boss." (Source: The Sun)
Hmmn. Not sure how I feel about being coerced into considering Roy H for the vacant chair at Spurs. If we're going British then it's Moyes, no?
Harry would be a fool to leave Spurs now. I'd understand it more if he had his head turned by Chelsea, or even 'Pool (when they finally get round to sacking Queen Kenny). But for him to take the poisoned chalice that is the England job would be utter madness. Not to leave a club like Spurs, with all the exciting future we have planned, and the squad we have - the best we've had since the 61/62 side.
Bazspur - You probably feel the same as everyone else about Woy at Spurs......Fortunately the poster above wasn't referring to that, but Woy for England.
If anything, Hodgson is starting to be considered for the England job by some...which I said would be a logical choice as soon as Capello left. The BBC preview for the Everton game was the worst. Most of it was spent presuming 'Arry would take the England job, and Moyes would be leaving Everton - probably for us.
Hack journos are a complete waste of space. They do not report news, they use valuable column inches to vent their own pointless and dull speculations. Come the Revolution...
Oh good, at least it was my ineffectiveness in ready posts rather than us consider RH for the Spurs chair. Yes, let the journos go on about Roy for england, get the media pumped up for that and as HIAG says, we can concentrate on increasingly becoming the most exciting side since 61/2.
Roy for England...Jesus christ...there's one tournament I shan't bother to watch this summer. Also...it seems to me that Redknapp is as much the PR machine as anyone else...he seems to create his own bubble of hype every couple of days. This is arguably the biggest club he's managed and definitely the best league performances in his entire career, surely he should just come out and remove himself from the equation or go for it.
Harry is one of the biggest operators in the business. He'll be using the England job as a means of getting a better deal out of Levy, both for himself and for the squad. He'd be a fool to play his hand too early, nor would any sensible, business-minded person expect him to.
