What is wrong with Levy if all the rumours are to believed. Is his ego doing overtime. The astonishing appointment of AVB looks like a dead cert. Any club cannot afford to be run as a divided body, except if you have unlimited funds to buy you out of trouble. Look what happened at Villa with that mad decision, a club in chaos. Every other club fan will vote or any poll for AVB as they know he may destroy us. I was indifferent to Harry going but if I had a choice of the raincoat man, I would pray to sweet Jesus for droopy's return. Many of you love Levy but for me he is hit or miss. We should have been in the new stadium instead wasting time over the Olympic ground. Never invested enough to maintain a Champs League position, a penny pincher which means we lose out on players. Praise over his stance with the Modric last summer but this may be only a Pyrrhic victory. If I could I would lobby the club as I am on the brink of madness.
And what would have happened if that investment had gone tits up, and we were lumbered in mid table with league challenging salaries? Its not realistic to spend money we can't afford on wages. As much as its hard to admit, we've been on a par in London with Fulham for the last 20 years, only recently we've developed into a big time club, and now we're so close, maybe Levy will start releasing the funds for Champions League winning players. But its unfair to criticize him for not doing it when it wasn't realistic. And as for AVB, perhaps he isn't the best option right now, but as for destroying the club? A minor over reaction me thinks. And the nonsense over a player revolt if he is brought in is precisely that. Personally, I think we have good days ahead of us, but even if we don't, I'll still support the club, instead of bloody lobbying it.
Perspective needed. Its just the appointment of a manager. It hasn't been done yet. AVB could work for all you know. Unless you have only been supporting Spurs for 4 years then you should be a bit more happy about where we are right now, regardless of manager. Give the new bloke a chance ffs. Some people on here are already mad, going mad, screaming, crying and the appointment has not even been made yet!
When Levy appointed Redknapp, I thought that was the last straw for me. Here was a man who had got rid of Jol, a manager who most of us loved, simply because he had one blip; a man who got in Comolli and appeared to give him carte blanche to buy whatever player he liked, regardless of whether or not we actually needed him; a man who got in a manager who not only didn't speak English, but who brazenly declared that he had no intention of ever doing so; and now here he was hiring a bloke who had managed the likes of Saints (just before they went down), and Bournemouth. When Redknapp turned things around for us, I was, of course, happy, but I've always have very strong suspicions that any half-decent English manager could have done the same thing, given the squad we had, and that Redknapp simply got lucky. I didn't want to believe it, because that would have meant that Levy had screwed up, yet again (and was merely masking his error with Redknapp's luck). And so it has proven to be the case. Levy has a more impressive record for screwing things up for us than he has for not screwing things up for us. If he's given a choice between going for AVB (failed in the EPL and showed he does not have what it takes to compete at the very top of the division, but cheap to get in because of his sacking), or a decent solid EPL manager who has proven his worth over several seasons (but who is going to be expensive to prise off his current club), what are the chances that Levy will actually make the right decision?
Is this a reaction to the story in The Sun that claims our dressing room is divided over the possible appointment of Villas-Boas? Given that our squad are currently all over the place, on holiday, with various teams at the Euros or possibly in preparation for the Olympics, it doesn't hold much water. When you throw in the added factors of it just being from The Sun, hardly known for their journalistic integrity and that Redknapp works/worked for them, I'd say it holds even less.
for **** sake just because he was ousted out by a bunch of ****s at chelsea everyone thinks we are employing the guy who manages at my local Sainsbury's supermarket! this guy has not become **** overnight just like Di Matteo the West Brom ex manager has not become world class over night. so for anyone to be certain about any appointment is beyond me as i can look for holes in every single candidate and succesfully find some. im not saying the OP cant have a prefernece..what i am saying is i can condemn every single prospect not just AVB....and that because the bloody chavs say so aswell..yes i forgot the most honest bunch of players in the PL.
Sadly I agree and I feel this could be another one in his long line of cock ups. His penny pinching is costing the club serious progress and is likely to continue that way with him at the top. I just hope this AVB talk is just exactly that... talk.
Not really, To have a vocal divided fan base is destructive. From this board and others the reaction amongst "Spurs Supporters" is roughly 50% anti, 25% indifferent, and 25% pro . On the player front , many would have had contact with the Chelsea squad and it's obvious what their opinion is.
His penny pinching is: alowing the club to compete with the best, for a fraction of the cost building a shiney new world class training complex for next season building a world class stadium getting us in Europe every year running the club sensibly, without fear of doing a rangers/leeds/portsmouth pretty sure we have made serious progress under him.
you indeed are the guru i agree...bad bad Levy...he screwed up by sacking Mr Tottenham and is threatening to replace him with a manager that failed at a club that sacked Ancelotti when he won the double...gave a world cup winning manager 6 months at the helm(scolari) i could go on and on...but yeah they got it spot on with AVB....not.
1) We have not and have never competed for the BEST players under Levy. We don't have the wage structure or transfer budget. 2) Spurs lodge was in need of updating for a long time. 3) He faffed around over the Olympic Stadium, wasted millions on a failed bid (which nearly ended up with serious legal consequences) and has now finally turned his attentions to redeveloping White Hart Lane, only on the basis that Haringey Council subsidise the project, thus wasting more time/money. 4) Every year since when...? I assume you're a recent Spurs supporter post the Santini years because I can only recall us getting into Europe 4 times in recent years. 5) To Dare is to Do I'm not denying we have made progress however, there have been many seasons where we have regressed when the opportunity for stability and growth were presented to him. First under Jol, now since sacking Redknapp.
Sadly we are not competing with the best. We are supporting actors (as Arsenal). The training complex is very nice but may be used long term to as a player supermarket. The new stadium should have been up and running . Being honest the Europa is worthless (£) rangers etc are extreme cases , we have a billionaire in a tax dodge doing nothing. Levy 7/10
i agree with guru and im not a recent Spurs supporter..then again 31 years might be recent for some...however i find it degrading when folk say things like 'recent fan' etc etc as a way of belittling somebodies comment.
So he spends within his means and that makes him such a bad chairman? If you want to support a soulless club who pump money into a club then there's a firm down in Hammersmith you may enjoy following. This rubbish your spouting about wasting time on the Olympic Stadium, let's face it, it was always a ploy to get more financial backing from Harringey Council and Boris, and we did pretty well out of it meaning that extra funds could be released for the club to spend on transfer/wage costs. Europa is worthless if you give it a lack of respect. Ask Porto, Athletico and Shakhtar if they think Europa League is worthless.
to me this is a desperate attempt to find flaws...you basically have admitted that you cannot be pleased unless it goes perfectly. think ive found the key to life here...its Harry Redknapp...its him who made our club. seems to me as though many have brought his tripe about him being the best thing since Bill Nich...Berkinshaw rang me last night and disagreed. keep it in perspective he said..Harry is good he said...but to think that Spurs have never had it better as Harry claimed last year...is bollocks he said. i agree ,i said. before he put the phone down on me he said..'id never have lost a semi final 5-1..infact ive won that mickey mouse cup they call the Europa aswell as the FA cup...so Spurlock my friend...you have had it better and you can have it just as good again for you are THFC not HRFC'
yes it would because you want it all with Spurs..and nothing wrong with that however to undermine what Levy has done yet laud over what Harry did is totally baffling for me.
As I said I was indifferent about Droopy, I didn't care if he stayed or went. My point is AVB as manager , appointed by Levy is madness. The club moves forward united if the vast majority approve of the decision.
