I learned today that the wonderful musician Levon Helm, drummer from "The Band" lies close to death. The ravages of cancer are laying waste to him. Rest easy Levon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VShpcqd3zE
Tried three times to send message. Succeeded at last. I saw a doco on Levon which was amazing. I've been a huge fan of The Band since the very early days and still give their music a going over on Youtube. Approaching midnight and have an early start tomorrow. So off to bed. Take it easy mate.
Very very sad. The Weight is one of my favourites by The Band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjCw3-YTffo
The Weight is amazing Swanny, another I like is "I Shall Be Released." My favourite Levon Helm song though , "Poor Old Dirt Farmer." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBuJB218UvU
Cyc: Yes, Poor Old Dirt Farmer is a classic, superb................. (also, Up On Cripple Creek....fabulous).
Good luck had just stung me To the race track I did go She bet on one horse to win And I bet on another to show The odds were in my favour I had 'em five to one When that nag to win came around the track Sure enough we had won Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one I took up all of my winnings And I gave my little Bessie half And she tore it up and threw it in my face Just for a laugh
