Basically the title, I had issues finding a stream of the game so I've only seen the highlights so far and instead got to watch Arsenal bottle it against Dortmund. I've gotten a bit of a sense at least as to how the forwards were from reading on here, but in the highlights Bayern's best chances seemed to come a bit easily. Was it just those times, or was the defense a bit soft today? Good result regardless, now for the weekend.
I was there, Leverkusens fans are truely unreal, I'd love to go to one of their home games. Anyway the match, without Terry our defence did seem soft but I felt we handled most of it very well with Ivan and Luiz contributing a decent amount to their duties today. Last season our defence was super most of the time, due to the fact Ivan was at right back to sweep up as he is a lot more defensive as Bosingwa, it will just take our CB's a bit of getting used to having two of our full backs so attacking. Other than the chances Bayer had, we played some awesome footy a lot of the time. My match ratings for our players would be: Cech: 7 Bosingwa: 7 Ivanovic: 6/7 Luiz: 8 Cole: 8 Mikel: 9 Meireles: 7 Malouda: 7 Sturridge: 8 Torres: 8 Mata: 8
I couldn't get up to SB yesterday, due to having a long standing baby sitting commitment. Will catch up on CTV today, but it sounds like we were well in charge and without captain fantastic, a great result.
Agree with the Mikel rating 100%. He is so solid for Chelsea, the kid has developed so well. Brilliant player and performanc .
I was at the game too and have seen much better away support than Leverkusen. They had subsidised tickets and they didn't sell out and although they made a fair bit of noise they were nothing like the Nicosia fans, who were amazing. Still a much, much better performance against a well organized team. I was very please to at last see the Mata Torres Sturridge front line and all three were excellent with Torres setting up both goals and very unselfishly squaring for Mata when he could have gone for glory. I was also very impressed with Meireles, who I thought played very well. Malouda even had his moments last night. We only had two players 30 or over in the starting 11, so much for an ageing team!
Glad to hear it, I'm always a bit cautious with highlights of matches online, as well as written recaps. Hopefully I'll get my streaming issues sorted.
Never said they were the best away support, simply showing shock at how good they were for not filling their end out.
