I couldn`t make the game on Sunday, so I settled down to listen to the game as usual on Radio Wales. It couldn`t be found, not even on Radio Bristol. I post this only because it seems a new agenda has been set for the coming season...might be of interest to some of you. It is their answer to my letter of compaint.

Thank you for your email about Cardiff City v Bristol City. We did have match commentary of the game but I’m sorry that you were unable to hear it. I’d like to explain how we decided where to broadcast the match.

Over the summer we have made changes to the version of BBC Radio Wales you hear on digital TV and radio. Up until now if you listened to the station on Digital TV and Radio anywhere in Wales you would have automatically heard a south east Wales version of the station (and therefore on matchdays, Cardiff City). As a national station it was important that we rectified this. Therefore, we now broadcast a national version on the station on Digital TV and Radio, which matches our service on AM.

Our football service is predominantly meant to be a localised service for FM listeners. Taking into account the number of teams we cover - and what rights we have - we will need to take a decision on a game by game basis which, if any, games are broadcast on AM, Digital TV and Radio. However, given this summer’s changes, we should have publicised the decision to put the Bristol City game on just south east Wales FM more clearly in advance. For this we apologise.

I’m pleased to say that Wednesday’s game with Brighton and Hove Albion will be broadcast on all frequencies across Wales. We are currently looking at other Cardiff City games throughout the autumn and will take a decision on where those are broadcast those in due course.

Thank you once again for your email and I hope you continue to enjoy following Cardiff City on BBC Radio Wales.

I had the same problem. I live in Cheshire but listen to Radio Wales on Sky 0117. Hardly missed a game last season. Put 0117 on at five to 3 to hear Owen Money! <steam>

Typical BBC. "We'll make all these changes and figure out the mistakes when the complaints start coming in".
This is why I signed up to CCFC Player, as long as you can get past Richard Sheppard's monotone, its worth it for the uninterrupted commentry

I received an identical response from Radio Wales. I have written again. If anybody feels strongly about this could they please e mail Radio Wales. At present those of us who live outside South East Wales will not be guaranteed to receive all CCFC matches unless the powers that be decide to change their minds. The e mail address is:

I had a similar experience back in May when a certain team were in the play off final.

I was listening to Owen Money on the Saturday morning and it was jacks this and jacks that and so many jack supporters going to wembley - even the local WI got a mention I think! It got too much

Anyway my point is last year when the bluebirds were there it was difficult to get a mention at all and when we were mentioned it was as though 'there we are then'

I still get the distinct feeling that the BBC are biased towards our rivals but what the heck.

Its there problem. Just thought I would mention it.

    Thanks Whoops, had my say.

Had a very quick response, word for word the same as dom's. Probably his PA doing a cut and paste.
