Personally and I'm sure most are aware here that ive been completely disappointed by naby since joining us.. Just saw this and it's got me going again.. Is that Klopp fed up like me that this guys never fukin fit? Hes been a complete flop of a buy for me. Yes the lad can play but the lad never does actually play and when he does he rusty for the two games he manages to stay fit for before again picking up another knock, let's have it right he's never got going here. How long are we planning to wait? He's been here near long enough for us to realise he's as frail as glass.
His days are numbered. Even when fit he still struggles to get hold of a game and it just passes him by. I doubt I'm alone in saying Jones is ahead of him.
Deffo on Jones, kids got all the ingredients to do well in the game. And more importantly is available.
Naby's issues can be broken down into two Availability and reliability The most annoying part of his Liverpool career is his inability to stay fit not a case of talent. It is a sad affair as no player enjoys being in the treatment room. What is worrying is the fact that his injuries are muscle-related and we saw that with Sturridge and how they took a toll on his athletic ability to run in Klopp's system. The other frustrating part is as he starts getting fit, he gets an injury or is recalled by his national team and overplayed. The only thing I cannot do for this season is to judge his injuries in a season where even the most fit of Liverpool players have been ruled out for muscle injuries. Team evolution The biggest critics I have seen are those who look at his highlights on youtube and cannot see that player in Liverpool. The thing is if he joined in the 2017/18 season, he would have been a star in the counter-attacking approach we took during that season. However, Klopp has changed his tactics considerably and the role of the midfield has been more of a control function over a creative role with that left to the fullbacks and wide players and the false 9. Like Gini, when you look at his stats after a game where he looked average, you are shocked to find out how effective he was. The Naby of Leipzig will not happen unless the coach changes the function of the midfield. Klopp has shown that when fit, he will play him and that the major issue is highlighted in my first point. Time is running out though so we can only wish he sorts out his injury problems.
So the two factors,, availability and team evolution. Well the 1st ones a write off. He's never available and therfore not reliable. The 2nd one, team evolution, perhaps this season with us sitting slightly deeper since vvd, could work in nabys favour as we may see more of a counter attacking style than domination of the ball and game like we could with a fit squad. But again his part in any team evolution is dependant in his availability. And that is just not there and never has since he arrived. Thinking that will change is dreaming imo So.... For me there's only one thing to do. Look to recoup some of the 50+m we spent in him.
I don't like being negative about a individual (apart from Balotelli!) but can't help it with Naby. He's not going to cut it with us imo. Even when fully fit and playing, he looks slow. Jones is way ahead of him imo but that's a discredit to Jones, he's ahead of others such as Minamino and Ox too.
Same ere, I hate to bag on one person but it's about time we spoke about naby as fans. Not that we effect any decisions of course but my general feeling is that most seem content with keeping him around, and I think he's done nothing to deserve such a free ride personally. His injury record for us is simply ridiculous to be honest. Im done with him have been since last season, another one full of knocks, like the one before. The guy above mentioned not blaming naby for his injuries this season as we're picking up so many... To me that's just another excuse to paper over the fact the man's made of glass, Naby will never make it here, that's where I am with him.
Everyone knows I love Naby but even my patience is wearing thin. My issue with him is not his ability - when he's on the pitch, he still shows quality. It may not be 60 yard dribbles or long range shooting - but it's his ability to keep the ball and play progressively is huge. His pressing is also to such a high standard but he won't get the credit for it because he is small and doesn't look physical. He definitely fits a Klopp team. The issue is availability and it doesn't matter how good you are, you are worthless if you're not available. That's why I think Shaqiri, Gomez and Matip (and maybe Naby) will be the ones to leave next summer. 3 out of those 4 are taking up non HG spaces in the squad. With that said, I do feel that Naby has been mismanaged. Most of injuries are off the back of international games where the Guinea NT manager has often played him when he was nowhere near fully fit and then that triggers a new injury. It's happen so often but unfortunately, it will continue happening unless Guinea are no longer managed by idiots or Naby refuses to go on national duty. We also have to look at his injury record before joining and it was very good, and Leipzig play a very high intense game so moving to LFC wouldn't have been the issue. I love Naby and I want him to stay fit - if he can, then great. But I would be looking at bringing in another midfielder who is more durable.
Surley Edwards can get someone interested, deffo not getting the full amount back anyways, just take the L sell him and move on.
He's only quality when he is allowed 20yrds of space and lots of time to think about what's he's going to do. He's just not suited to PL football
That's actually the complete opposite of what he's good at. He's good in tight spaces and evades the press. His ability to dribble and create space is so good. There are times he does dwell but he's always looking for the forward option and often, there isn't hence he dwells. Wasn't that long ago when he was played very well vs Leicester recently.
What he can and can't do is irrelevant for me... What does it matter when he's not available to play 80% of the time. Yes the lad can play and he's good enough to play for us but he's not playing for us enough in any way that can be taken a genuine contribution. For 2 years he's been a waste of a squad place. Ox is just as bad but at least he's had his moments and won us games/points. Has naby ever had a good game for us where he ran the show? If he has I mustve missed it.
He gets caught in possession more than he does anything good with it. You say he's always looking for a forward pass but, despite having Bobby, Mane & Salah in front of him, I can't recall too many times he's unlocked a defence either. He's had a couple of decent games but they've been when he's been allowed time to play.
Signed in July 18', so basically 2 seasons bearing in mind the 3 or 4 month lay off.....................70 appearances.
