OK it's Monday mornoing and we have consigned the Blackpoool game to history. Blue line etc. Was thinking this morning that at the start of this season no-one outside of Saints could have seriously believed we would be realistic promotion candidates much less championship contenders! Yet we have been top 2 all season and here we are with only six matches to go knowing three wins will probably be enough to get us up. If we get the three wins West Ham with a much worse goal difference effectively need to win 5 and draw one of their remaing games to overtake us. I can't see that happening and in any case if we maintain our seasons average we will do better than three wins and no-one will catch us! It's going to feel like a long week with no games that matter until Friday and there are sure to be lot's of panics over injuries etc. Let's hope Barnsley and Leeds do us a favour on Friday but above all let's all stay positive! I'd much rather be in our position than Readings or West Hams. It's in our own hands. Let's stuff the skates and then on to glory! COYR!
That's something I find a little odd, even when Pompey were -10 and 8/9 points from safety they still sing 'We are staying up!' Have to admire that. It's changed this week, a lot of normally positive Pompey fans have accepted the fact they are going to get destroyed... I'm not so sure... Let's be positive! Big Week! Big game! Big three points up for grabs! COYR!
We lost games earlier in season as well, but I suppose people feel that we are nearing the line and games are running out. However, this is a good thing because we did not lose ground against West Ham. We are top with only six games left...a fantastic position to be. West Ham need 5 wins and a draw whilst we lose three games for us not to get auto...will they do it? Unlikely. For Reading to get the title they need one more win than us...will they do it? Possibly. Will we get same points or more as Reading and take title? Good possibility. A wonderful place to be and we wouldn't be Saints if we sorted it out early.
I have been a nervous wreck at times since this season,i really think we can and will go up......and my wife cant wait for the end because i have done her head this season....but being a saints fan is not easy...
Nicely put Fran. Sometimes you can get caught up in different permutations and ignore the longer running trend. Blackpool would have been our fifth win on the trot but it didn't happen so let's put it behind us and return to form on Saturday.
Same here. Got really annoyed when I finally got to watch game on saturday, swearing at TV etc and had the "It's only a game" lecture!
I think we will be promoted by the end of the Reading game. I am confident we can win our next 3 games to put us in a strong postion going into the final 3 games to push for the title.
If we go up, I'm looking forward to the summer break from stress. All the discussions will be about the price Barca would take for Messi, who else is available, wondering about our first match, the preseason, and Markus's Cup (let's try and get a big crowd). And we will have Euros, Olympic Games, cricket and Wimbledon to get us through the football drought (luckily I enjoy most sports).
And i got " Can we put something else on?" But she did also say "Every time you go to a game you win,but when you watch them on telly you seem to lose"
I also got "their players seem to be better than yours" " I thought you were supposed to be good" aaaaagh!
