Jesus wept. What more can you say.
Back to square one with another complacent ,lazy sloppy performance, like a month ago.
As much as it grieves me to say so, I think Lampard should not start for us again in the foreseable future. Without him for the last few matches, we have been much faster, more direct and far more composed .The defence looked better with more time, the attackers had more opportunities. Today, back to the old ways.
I am sure Lamps gives everything, but I think the problem is the guy has such stature in the club, the other midfielders defer to him and let him "run " things. And he is simply not able to do that anymore ,in my opinion. Without him, the midfielders seem to work more for each other, and the team is heaps faster in every position. Today, all of the improvement of the past month disappeared inside 45mins.He has a future as an impact sub, but must improve significantly to earn a start again.
As for the rest, here's my take
Cech. Some good stops, 2 bad blunders. Is there a worse kicker of the ball in the League ? Invariably to the opposition, or off the side of the boot and out.
Boswinga. Reasonable game, still a dodgy cross or last pass.
Ivanovich. Proves again he's our best right back.
Terry . Maximum effort as always.
Cole. For me, add to the list of those on the slide. One great pass, 2 good pieces of defending when we were again a shambles on set plays towards the end. Gives the ball away more than everyone else combined. Dashes forwards, stops, looks around, passes backwards or is disposessed. Doesn't take players on anymore. Still quick of feet, but not of mind.
    Romeu. Did OK
Mata. Did OK. Like Romeu, looked a tad tired.
Lampard. Tried hard, but a long way from great.
Meireles. Not his best game, but not too bad.
Sturidge. The only one wanting to go at them. Quick, tricky, clever. First one picked for sure.
Drogba. Back to his sulky lazy worst. Attacked one ball, and waited the rest of the game for people to serve it up on a plate. Infuriating player when in this mood

    And finally 12th man AVB
As bad and as slow as Ancelotti was with subs, AVB is worse. It was obvious after 20 mins that we needed guile and speed in the midfield, and that Drogba needed to be hooked.
We're 1 nil up, going OK. Surely the time to give Josh and Torres a trot, pull Frank , give Milkel a rare attacking roll ?? On come Kalou, Mikel as holder, and Malouda.
And we get worse, while our best midfielder and striker watch from the sidelines.

    Team for Spuds anyone ?????

In my opinions Cechs scared and i don't blame him, he was one of the best keepers in the world before that **** hunt put a end to it, i don't think his ever been up to the same standard since then and maybe it's time to let him go and bring in Krul or Vorm. Don't like writing people off half way through the season but his looked dodgy since last season and i think the injuries on him are taking their toll mentally.
Drogba really pisses me off, it's like he plays to earn his place in the team then when he knows his guaranteed a place he just becomes lazy and knows he don't need to do anything.
    Ivanovic is best at RB
Cole is still quality in my opinion
Lampard is still quality but when we play him the pace we lose is unbelievable so i'd keep him as a impact sub
Romeu was absoulete quality again and has been in every game his played
Mata was ok but to get the best out of him he needs to play as a AM so he can run things
Sturridge was quality again and our star man
Meireles done ok no comment on him
    Mikel is ****
    Malouda is ****
    Kalou is ****
On avbs part the subs were awful, Kalou for Romeu? Will never understand that ( I know he wanted to go more attacking but he brought the wrong man off and put the wrong man on )
Team for spurs - Cech,Ivanovic,Luiz,Terry,Cole,Romeu,Ramires,Meireles/Josh,Mata,Sturridge,Torres. I'd play in a 4-1-2-1-2 though, torres and sturridge up front together would be quality as their pace and creativity could ruin defences and with mata just behind them he'd be able to play in so many passes and ramires and meireles running down the flanks would cause more havoc for the opposition. that would be our best team and formation in my opinion

When I first started supporting Chelsea X"x years ago, they were generally known as " the unpredictables"! This was because they would inevitably kick all the top clubs into touch, and then for reasons unknown, lose to the relegation candidates! Man City on Monday, Wigan today--Am i having some deja vu?

    Torres - waste
    Terry - capable
    AVB - good choice.

    Tottenham 1-5 Man City
    Chelsea 2-1 Man City

Anyway, let's save this for Thursday shall we. I hope for a colourful match thread, I'm sure it will be <ok>.

    Tune <ok>

You a member of a band then Ensil? My favourite Style Council tune was always 'Walls come tumbling down'. That one closely followed.

    Let's be blunt about it.
Cech has become worryingly error prone.
Cole is on the slide but still shows class, but same as Cech, becoming error prone.
Terry is leading by example and you can never doubt his commitment, but age showing?
Ivanovic is at right back world class, at cetre back, has no communication with Terry and it doesn't work.
Bosingwa is improving, but I still panic when he has to defend.
Lampard puts the effort in but he didn't play a single through ball in the first half or even try to.
Romeu is looking like growing into a world class player.
Miereles is looking good as well, but this was't one of his best.
Mata is world class, but a average display.
Drogba can take the 200k in China.
    Sturridge. Just love him.

As far as subs go most can leave but I wat us to keep Kalou. I thought he played well whe he came on and actually ran at defenders. Mikel isn't solid enough to bring on when playing for draws which is worrying. Maybe play him CAM for a game? Malouda leave please.

Now, Torres. AVB really does't want him to do well does he? He's doing a good job of alienating him though. I would start him at Spurs as to be honest Drogba is just an insult for 85 minutes of the game.

Essentially, we badly missed our Brazillians Luiz and Ramires.

1 Torres. Haven't a clue. Certainly not good value so far, and may be a waste of money. Ask this question again in February after he has, presumably, replaced Drogba for a run of games while Drogs is in Africa . By then we should all know the answer.
    2. Terry. Not past "it ", except if 'it " is his best, in which case the answer is yes.
Definitely capable, but needs a replacement young player to mentor sooner
    rather than later.
    3. AVB Mystery man. Not too flash with replacements. Seemed to learn his best side and got very good results after some lousy performances. Then seemed to forget all he learned and went backwards. Everyone makes mistakes, smart managers' don't make the same one twice.
Owner . not sure he's a know nothing dictator, but judging by his alleged record, he's one of the worst judges of a footballer ever. Trouble is, we don't know if what is attributed to him is actually his work. He sure needs better advisors, or needs to listen more to the current ones.

No argument from me. Lamps on the bench for sure. Drogba just about deserves another go, but I totally agree, if he's not on fire from the off, hook him and put Torres up front with Sturidge.

I see, fair enough! Quite easy getting to grips with these little towns after living in London so not a massive move! Saying that it does get quite boring from time to time. I work in Coventry, which is full of chavs!!
