Defoe is back in training and could even start against Arsenal, as AVB confirmed: "Defoe has trained for the past two days and is in contention for the game." Villas-Boas also confirmed that Younes Kaboul was still at least two weeks away from a near season-long absence because of knee trouble.
That's great News. Even if he's on the bench, and get's 20 or 30 mins at the end, it's another option for us.
Sorry, but I've had no interest in Defoe for the past three seasons. If he plays, if he doesn't play - meh. So what? Most Spurs fans having been waiting for him to be replaced with a marque striker, anyway. I can think of both pluses and minuses, should he get any further game-time for us, this season.
Short memories. Without Defoes form this season we wouldn't be in our current position. But of course he was finished years ago, maybe its his twin brother who has been scoring goals and providing the team with points.
Boss, you have a short memory, too. Remember when we was about as useful to us as a chocolate spoon? On his day, he's among the best out there. Trouble is, I want him on match day, not "his day." He's far too inconsistent to be the striker that Spurs needs and deserves.
When we've had enough moaning at Ade for an hour, we can moan at someone else...its all good! JD is always slow to get going again post injury, we've seen it enough times.
I've always rated Defoe, and never wanted him to leave, and if it wasn't for his form then we wouldnât be in our current position. Although I'm not claiming he is our "saviour" yet he has given years of good (and at times great) service for us. Also lets not forget at the start of the season virtually all of us where concerned about him as our main lone striker (in a role he has never played before), and what happens, he steps up to the plate and performs, so lets give the little guy some credit.
Boss, on his day, he's among the best out there. Anyone who tries to argue that isn't a football fan. But it comes to something when, for the past three seasons (at least) we've consistently had to look to our midfield to score us the important goals. Jesus! If we had someone like RVP in our current squad, we'd walk this league! Yes, yes, yes! I know that top strikers can name their weight in gold when it comes to signing contracts with clubs, but - I'm sorry - as natural a striker as Defoe undoubtedly is, he is not good enough to match the aspirations of our current squad.
Fair enough HIAG, your not excited by Defoe , although he's good enough for our squad and is good enough to score in spells which benefit the teams target for the season. As a main striker, clearly we need someone of better quality, yet that doesn't mean Defoe should be banished! or discarded, just we need a manager that knows how to use (or drop him) at the right time. Villas Boas seems a big fan though! so you may need to accept, little jermaine will be here for a while longer!
Guys, guys!!! FFS - we are just going into the most important game of our season - possibly a season-defining game - and between some of our most respected posters we are having a pop at our only 2 proper forwards!!! Come on - put this behind us for the next 72 hours at least. Give Ade and Defoe a chance to perform on Sunday. There will be ample time for recriminations next week (hopefully not) or possibly at the end of the season, but lets just wish them all the best against the Gooners!!! COYS!!!!! (Rant over.....)
To be fair, though, 69, Boss and my arguing is a pimple on the arse of an elephant compared to the boil on the arse of a gnat arguments PESKIE has with his bunch!
ha ha! all good natured "arguing"...certainty no issue with HIAG (our lovable red-bar leader)!........leave the REAL arguing to the mousers and PESTS (aka Peskie)
