Using the same logic, why are Berwick in the Scottish league?

Or Monaco in the French league.

I have never understood why the welsh teams play in the English leagues and it is not just Cardiff City and Newport County, there is Swansea City, Wrexham and others like Aberdare Athletic and Merthyr from many years past. Is the reason the top welsh teams were so much better than the average, but then they went in the welsh cup for an easy way into european football.

Ak, I think that the Monaco stadium is on the border between France and Monaco. The club offices are on the Monaco side to take advantage of the more favourable tax rate.
