Today the goverment release previously withheld documentaion relating to the Hillsbrough Disaster- A day I will never forget. Early indications are that there was delibrate falsyfying of legal papers and police reports. Lets hope the truth about the police cover up, the lies at the top level of goverment and the shameful disgusting actions of a newspaper who delibrately spread evil lies in a bid to create maximum sales that destroyed a city. Lets remember the Taylor report, the shameful admission by the Chief of Police who admitted lying to the press that the gates were kicked down, the lies about ticketless drunken fans and the coroner being wrongly advised that death was inevitable 15 minutes after the tragedy unfolded. Football fans are our family and unlike those dispicable arseholes on Charlton life who have condemned the liverpool fans as culpable and equally guilty hand their heads in shame, they do not speak for me and spouted their crap with no evidence other than footballing predjudice, I hope, we on this board show a even hand and compassion to those that simply went to watch a game of football.
Are the records open to all, or for the families? Haven't actually read either way what the plan is regarding that. First and foremost - I just hope this will let some of the family members find closure. Secondly, it would be brilliant if some individuals are bought to trial if the evidence does show there was a cover up and lives were lost due to the negligence of the authorities. I just hope they find what they are looking for.
The documents are about 400,000 pages in total and are availible now for public consumption although I believe that the families are being shown them first. Something like 142 pages are already identified as illegally amended or falsified. This is the country we once lived in. I cannot speak for the families, the only thing these people wanted was the truth I cannot say if a jail sentance for manslaughter may not be what they wanted, Perjury may be more appropriate though. Civil action is long statute barred and compensation has already been paid. These people were dignified in the their quest for truth while some including CAFC fans sought to belive the police and the media. The Sun may be a very diffrent newspaper tomorrow and may go the way of its fellow arsewipe the NOTW. Kelvin McKenzie has since run away. The arsehole that wrote that SUN headline should have his balls fed to him.
Police failings, police cover-up, failings in the ambulance service. 41 people had the potential to be saved after 3.15 Well done to the families and campaigners. I won't say I agree with them on everything, but they have stuck true to their principles and fought for this.
Just seen the news report. Not much has the capacity to shock me these days but this is just ghastly. It must have taken one hell of a concerted effort by a great many people to keep this information hidden for 23 years - where's their consience? Where's their humanity? Almost more shocking than the criminal neglect and cover-up is the revelation that as many as 41 of the victims may have had a chance of survival if ambulances hadn't been prevented from entering the ground. Don't know where this goes next...
I remember the Hillsborough disaster. I never gave room to the claims that the fans were drunk & responsible for the events. It was clear from the film at the time that this was not the case. However I felt it was a tragic catalogue of mistakes by those in charge of the police who did not understand what was unfolding in front of them, possibly with panic setting in. We now know the truth that there were lies & more lies by people who should be ashamed. How they sleep at night is beyond my comprehension. worse is that up to 41 people may have lived had the correct emergency procedures been followed. I hope this brings some crumbs of comfort to the families, friends & anyone involved in this tragedy. It leaves me sad that people, there to protect the public stooped as low as they did in this tragic event.
Tewks it is over now. Criminal proceedings are non extant and civil proceedings are statute barred. I do in my heart believe that those parents whose children never came home can now sleep. Their victory was truth and the finding of peace and they have that now. I just wish that scumbag and general dick kelvin Mckenzie was not attached to this club.
T, as I understand it, criminal cases no longer have a time limit* and after the Stephen Lawrence case the double jeopardy restrictions have been lifted so further legal actions are quite possible from the families of the 96 or indeed the state. * I may have been wrong there but the following is from the Limitations Act 1980 and it could be argued that the 3 year rule for personal injury should start from yesterday as it was then that additional information officially became public knowledge.
No I'm afraid that at the moment the date of knowledge is established and indeed until the attorney general overturns the inquest verdict, this case remains statute barred. However, further confusion and doubt arises when you consider if the cps accept the findings of a independant commission having access to the documentation themselves are they saying their negligent?? all this is not new evidence but evidence they themselves had access too and disregarded. You essentially are asking the cps to prosecute themselves and they won't do that! The criminal side is even more complicated as the evidence was surppresed at what level?? The chief inspector? The government? I can't see that you can establish criminal negligence resulting in a conviction. After all if you could why have they released the documentation unless they are safe in the knowledge that no criminal or civil charges can be bought? Having this independant enquiry is not enough I'm afraid. It pains me to say this but the likelihood of anyone getting compensation is very remote. I hope I'm wrong
Think he decided to be a QPR fan half way through the Pardew/Parkinson season, and may have been a Millwall fan in 89. I didn't realise that 14 people did time for Heysel. Also didn't realise that the only change to the Leppings Lane end was putting seats on the lower tier. There was an interesting discussion on the SWFC board, but it is a difficult topic for them.
