This week is huge,6 points would do nicely ,4 points would be okay, three points would be poor, and zero points would be a disaster. Really cannot get my head around the complete difference from 6 weeks ago. Where has it gone wrong Do we blame the players Do we blame the manger, and his team.
Try at Peterborough - we lost Greg and Cole at the same time and Marv after the following game and we haven't been the same since. No, we DON'T blame the manager, we are not quite a quarter of the way through the season where we are creating a completely new squad, a new style of play, etc. It is going to take a little time and we will have bumps along the way. Don't panic Mr Mainwaring...! p.s. why do you think 3 points from 2 tough opponents will be poor...?!
Reason being you need to win your home games to survive in this league,we have not won at home for quite a while now.you need to hopefully pick up some points on the road along the way. Seriously will be concerned if we loose the next two home games.
I've got to agree with Prem,I don't blame anybody, our quality of play is better, our squad is of a much higher standard, our youth and development squads really have improved, the management at all levels is connected and better, in fact all around we have got better, except results and that one I can't answer. I will to wait until January and then we will see how we are doing,at least we are not just watching video's and playing zonal....
Agree totally with Prem or bust; The three injuries to key players mentioned above, followed by serious injuries to loanee George Elokobi and his sub Joe Bryan, and a very personal problem for a squad member, have disrupted a stable team that was beginning to show some real promise. And a dramatic and unforeseen loss of form by one or two reliable stalwarts from the last three years. An improvement in spite of the defensive frailties that we as fans and the club management have known about since end of last season. I'm not going to come here and criticise DMc for not signing centre backs in the summer. He is obviously aware of the situation, and we are never likely to be made aware of all the attempts that he has made in the last six months to strengthen the squad defensively. Neither are we likely to be made aware of the reasons why some players rumoured to be coming to City, chose other career paths. Firstly it is obvious that the club will not now just throw money (players wages) and sign anyone who is willing to come here solely for the money. Secondly DMC is obviously being more careful with his signings than some previous managers would have been. A quick review of his new signings since he came here leads me to believe that he knows who and what he wants. Foster and Pearson last season's recruits have on the whole done well for us in spite one's of personal problems. Heaton, Baldock, Davies, Cunningham are excellent quality signings. Morris as I said on another post has surely been brought here as a dressing room enforcer to stop the nonsense of years gone by. This leaves just Anderson and I'm a bit puzzled by this but there could be any one of several reasons for this and I won't speculate on this here. We have also seen a big improvement in Ryan Taylor and Woolford. The future is difficult and we'll get very despondent at times but I, the eternal pessimist, am convinced that Bristol City will be a much better side at the end of this season than the one we are watching right now. PS; I have not voted as either answer is a bit like answering the question "Do you still beat your wife?"
What team looks better Heaton Foster Carey McManus Fontaine Adomah skuse Pearson woolford Baldock Davies Or Heaton Foster Wilson McManus Cunningham Adomah skuse Elliott woolford Baldock Davies Were missing key players at the moment and some are out of form, a win will go a long way. If we win the next 2 everyone will think were going up and we'll be top 6 lose and everyone will have us playing Swindon and Yeovil next year its a long season and to be honest the next 2 games should see us pick up 6 points as I agree we need to be winning the home games
Shiny I'm not a Woolford fan so would not play him,Anderson for me in that position,Carey I understand had a reasonable game at Bolton and I reckon he will play alongside big mac tomorrow.Fontaine needs to realise he is not undroppable and needs to get back to the player he once was.dropping him will give him the kick up the backside.
Another thing I have noticed, baldock looked like a man possessed when he arrived, yet he has gone of the boil, he seems to struggle to make any headway when on the pitch. Yet wham fans rave about him.he does not seem a buzzing player when he gets the chance to play, again confusing.
Red, Shiny and Hawkmoon were both there are Saturday and say Louis was the weak point on Saturday. That two reports from two reading the OTIB no one else said anything different. Baldock has been playing now for the past few games and apart so your logic that given match time he is assume. As BRISTOL CITY we have not seen much of Anderson so we can't really comment, Florist fans when we got him were mixed reviews. But on the times we have seen him looks good but as I said we do not have much to on. I also wonder if he's another Albert great going forward but offers nothing defensively which when we are having players playing out of position behind him (even Bryan is a winger) could be a risk, or just maybe he is one for the future. Del trains with him so I suggest he knows better. At the beginning of the season it was YOU that kept telling all and sundre that we were dark horses and should not be underestimated. You said we are top half to playoffs. Everyone else kept saying to be realistic. At that point you were telling us all that Del was the best young manager we had and would take us far. Last season you kept banging on that he was not the man for the job you wanted Dave Jones Billy Davies etc etc and now after a bad patch that even your hero Hollowhead after a good start is having. Banksy even commented on your obsession with every other team buying in the summer liken you to do you get jealous when you see a delivery lorry arriving for your neighbours. I won't vote as a few have said we got dealt an injury on possibly the best player we have seen at LB position that gave us an outlet to enable a few players to benefit ie Woolford. Also even though I don't rate him as much as some on here can see that we are missing Elliott someone if only used as a sub can add some punch to midfield but I would of never have him down as a starter now! I admire your passion for the club, but you did not seriously expect us to reach playoffs did you? Can you really not see that the academy is improving and in a few years will have some players breaking hrough be proud off? That club needed to be turned upside down and seeds planted for the future which a lot of us can see but just a shame that at the moment things are not going for us. But just out of interest I see you are back blaming the management so I presume you want them out. Can you name your replacement?
Expected City to really struggle but expected they to look more organised. If you pick players who are constantly out of form and error prone and players who do not look like they are giving 100% you are to blame.
'can see that we are missing Elliott someone if only used as a sub' Great idea - how about when we're 3 down ! I give up, when will you lot realise that a 'Marvin Elliott' is an absolute essential.
I give up with you as well ****ing analysing my comments all the time. I said a few weeks ago I obviiously know nothing. I meant to change the game. Not to sit back and see us lose 3-0 hence last Saturaday we could of done with someone to hold onto the lead.
'I would fever have him down' - Exactly what language is this. ' ****ing analysing' And your epistle to Red wasn't ?
There you go it's changed now, I typed that out earlier on my Ipad. You dont get the best view to change anything on it unlike a computer
NO i have not said he should go,but i am not happy what i'm seeing before my eyes on the pitch,we are a better squad than at least half in this division, yet we are not performing to that level at present.
3 points from the 2 games would be ok, not brilliant but ok. We are in transition, and it takes time. However, we need to pick up points, especially at home, until we are back at full strength. I'm being an optomist for once and going for a 2-1 win tonight COYR !
Well they did not turn up tonight, but then Del changes his team like his underpants, every game it is different. The rallying call was just feeble tonight, the whole evening was a far cry from what we as fans expected.
