Ok as we near what could prove to be an epic season, the temporary loss of our stripes, has been on the back burner so to speak.. I would be interested to know just how the new style kit has sold, I wager not well, seeing as I have seen very few of them worn around the Brit, though the retro style seems to have done well, those I have seen in numbers. I take it that we are going to get our stripes Back??? To finish with great game Saturday feeling in a great mood looking forward to the 17th,,
I'm pretty sure I heard when we heard the atrocious news that we would not have stripes on the back this season, that we would be returning to the norm next season.
Sgt just so long as we do, thats fine, I would still be interested to find out how the change in strip has sold
Tony Scholes has claimed it has sold well, but then again he would say that wouldn't he? The fact that Stoke have done offers (like getting a particular players' name on the back for free for a period) tells me that it isn't selling as well as Scholes claims.
The thinner the stripes the better. When clubs like ours have about three great big fat ones it looks ****.
To be honest - although I didn't like the fact it had no stripes I do quite like the shirt! Please don't kill me but admittedly it's a nice strip, is something different and our boys haven't done bad wearing it (cos we all know that whether you believ in hexes or jinxes, superstition it right in football). I am quite happy to buy one, and considering our success this season would be proud to wear it - as soon as I have the cash to!!! I want the stripes back, but I do quite like it just for this season.
I don't think the solid back has been too bad. I was really pissed off when I heard about it, but it's grown on me a little. I am annoyed that Hull and Plymouth have the same design in different colours though! Still, I'll have my stripes back next season please. . .
I took immediate action when I first found out about the stripeless back: I did an epetition when the news was first announced. It was on 606 called SOS (SAVE OUR STRIPES) and it appealled to many different football fans who supported different clubs, some who knew about kit changes. And I threw my adidas football boots in the bin.
Fair replies, but apart from tradition and I am 100% behind that, we have another reason for the stripes now this gets a bit nerdy, but you can try it for self, a solid block of colour is harder to see at distance than opposing verticle stripes of colour. Thats why the lesser teams choose mono block colours lack of imagination, now lets see manu ars...manc..ha, ha, ha, couldn,t resist that one
