In less than a week McDermott has taken a team that was heading towards the bottom 3 and inspired two wins. He's also got the team to give up hoofball and started to rebuilt their confidence. At the Emirates, Ross Barkley, a man who could get a game under Warnock, is man of the match against Arsenal. Warnock is the most overated sack of **** since Terry Venables. Thank God we're rid of him. If only we'd done it sooner.
"Phil Hay ‏@PhilHayYEP 4m Telling comment by Sean Dyche on Leeds: "That group of players weren't playing like that two weeks ago. I know because I saw them." #lufc"
I said it when we signed Warnock that he was a useless ****. I just hoped it didn't take the people that mattered 18 months to figure it out as well
At the start of the season, I like many others saw the influx of players, and with Warnock's experience he'd get us at least into the top 6. Even allowing for the fact that he had some bad luck with Becchio going, the crowd last night sining ..."we're Leeds United and we're passing the ball..." summed up everything that was wrong with Warnock. Nothing wrong with a hoof up field if it's to someone to run on to and beat a defender to score. But as an oft used tactic with the wrong players trying to hold the ball up, it was crap. Had BD arrived a month earlier, who knows where we could have ended up. But as things stand, we're looking at a strong finish and nothing more. Comments on Yorkshire radio by Dom Matteo reckoned that we're only 2 or 3 good players short of being a very good team. Can't now see it happen, but I'd love to see Poleon, Dawson get a game on Saturday, as well as Byram playing RM with Peltier if he's fit playing RB.
Now is certainly the time for BD to experiment and get an idea of who he wants to add to the squad. I moaned like hell at the start of the season when we were playing the poorest of poor teams in pre-season friendlies, I would imagine he will wait until after the weekend, can see the youngsters getting a chance on the last home match of the season.
Did everyone see Warnock's Interview on the BBC site about why he left? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22136090 Still trotting out the same old lines about how unlucky he was to be here at the time he was, because the next manager would get all of the funds he never had. Also that he wanted to stay to help Leeds till end of season because he knows the players inside out and he can get a response from them. Really Neil, really? He certainly wasn't getting a response! Also he couldn't pronounce dynamism in the interview. Which I thought was hilarious, kind of sums up his whole approach!!
LiD, I think Warnock's whining and my thoughts about it are best summed up by the acronym DILLIGAF. He was so full of ess ache one tee & so up himself, it wasn't true. It's taken a while and a lot of heartache, but I think we'll see a major improvement in our fortunes next season. We may not go up next season. But we will be competing and whatever happens next season will be part of a three year plan.
Too true Boggers, I'm looking forward to next season. The 5 games under McD are as a good a time for us to see what the players Warnock brought in can do as they are for him! Glad there's finally some positivity around the place
Damn and blast. With your eternal optimism, I thought you'd be predicting us winning Championship by Christmas. If your'e saying we may not get promoted next year, we mustnt have a bloody hope at all
Not as late as that Eire!!! But someone else had it right earlier this week. BMD is on a 3 year contract. He's made an immediate impression. But we've yet to see who comes, who goes in the summer, and what he does with all our kids, some currently on loan, & some breaking through at the moment. He's going to take a while to decide how many new players he needs, & who really has no long term future at Leeds. Bare minimum next season is top 6 whilst still playing some good stuff. If we can also have a good run in the cups and utilise some of the squad/development squad/the kids, so much the better.
