Looking at the (many) comments that Harry has made since being made the peoples' choice, by the media, for England manager, it's clear that - should he be offered the job - he'll be off at the end of the season. He is now consistently saying, "I won't leave Spurs in the lurch," meaning that he won't leave before the end of the season. The absence of "Let me make it clear that I wouldn't take the England job because I could never leave Spurs" makes it absolutely clear that his feet won't touch, when (inevitably, I fear) the FA comes calling. In reality, what Harry is saying to the FA is, "don't try to appoint me before the end of the season." Harry will be gone before the end of the close-season, and we will need to appoint his replacement pretty sharpish, so as not to disrupt our preparations for next season, including a CL campaign. The good news is that a take-over by AEG should ensure that we manage to sign the likes of Mourhino (or someone of his calibre), as well as offer vastly increased contracts to the likes of Bale and Moddy, as well as complete the signing of Adebayor. Have you guys reconciled yourselves to losing Harry? And, if you have, do you, like me, nonetheless feel optimistic about our future?
i think he will go he's never kept it a secret that he want's to manage England .if i was talented enough to be a manager, i would'nt touch it with a bargepole, it's a poisoned chalice.it depends on who we get in as to if i will be optomistic
I long accepted that he will leave for England. But assumed it would be after the Euros not the end of the season so really its a bonus.
I'd agree. Unfortunately. Harry is old fashioned, he still thinks that being England Manager is a great honour. Personally, I think he would make a big mistake, the England job is indeed the ultimate poisoned chalice.
I'm waiting for the FA not to offer it to him. Unlike Harry, the FA have been very quiet, they've only said English would be ideal, but foreign would not be discounted. They've also said they have to consider a long term option, does a 65 yr old with a heart condition fit that bill? I'm not too sure how they feel about everyone else making the decision for them, has it occured to Arry he could be making himself look a right tit. I wish he'd just shut up, for someone so intent on focusing on Tottenham, perhaps he should try it.
In which case you ought to be reminded that jokes rely on the audience finding something funny rather than just the teller finding it funny. #howtobeasuccessfulcomedian
So, it would seem that most of us are reconciled to losing Harry, provided it is at the end of the season.
I read, yesterday, that now the FA WON'T be calling upon Harry's services, Abramovich might. Other than having more money to spend, finally being to work with Drogba, taking Modric with him and being reunited with his nephew, does it mean di Matteo would be looking for work - and dare we inquire as to his availability?
Harry's already said that he dare not accept the Chelsea job (if it was offered to him). Personally, I think that the mad Russian would be looking for someone with a better cv that Harry's. It doesn't appear to be his style to hire managers who only ever win is an FA Cup with Portsmouth.
