That's cheered my right up. What a nice way to start the day. Cheers swan_and_only.

I know stats don't always tell the whole story, but I reckon ML will get us playing some great stuff this year, just a case of ironing out the lumps (inconsistencies) and we'll be on our way :)

I just think there has been a few unfortunate circumstances that has gone against us. we will be back on track, The way we started give fans a high expectation that we could not sustain

Great post swan and something that people seem to forget. It is going to get harder and harder for us to maintain perm status, last year we surprised many, this year everyone is wise to our way of playing.

Too many jacks think we have made the big time,it's one thing to get there it's another thing to stay there, ML has to think a bit differently if we want to stay there and he should get our full backing.

Swans are best whenthe odds are against them, a few defeats will help the team re focus and remove their heads from the clouds <ok>

Great post. Great perspective. Great affirmation. No blarney, better passing! A couple of things come to mind. First, reinforces how committed Everton were to their game plan last week. Second, Wigan are now up there with us and Liverpool in terms of possession - goal difference and final league standing will tell us how efficiently we converted posession into goals, which I think is what will set ML apart from his predecessors.

Now perhaps some of the doubters can relax a bit and get behind the team ,who said it was going to be easy

Great document - I like statistics. Does certainly calm things down reading them.
I think it was the manner of the defeat against Everton that got people jumping off cliffs. We started poorly and never really recovered. I don't expect performances like that every week.
Just remember - Villa and Everton - both those managers did the double on us last season - is it just coincidence ?

Sorry but I'm not entirely convinced that our stats will be the same as last year, and it's far too early to make any comparisons, are the Everton game stats included? I'm sure we'll have a few more thumpings like that, until Laudrup understands the dynamics of our midfield better, not sure De Guzman is the answer to losing Joe Allen, would like Ki to be given a run of games instead of De Guzman! And please can we retire Monk and Tate.................<ok>

Phil - sounds like you've got it in for De Guzman in the same way you had it in for Gower. I would say he's doing OK by and large. <ok>

No I do not have it in for him at all, just that we can't afford to keep playing him, with the way he gives the ball away! At this level, and with the second season in swing, we need the best players on the field, and I think that Ki is better than De Guzman, from what I have seen so far!..............<ok>

Neither Ki or jdg has the dog in them like Joe,(well maybe Ki if catch my drift <laugh> ) but they do offer much more in the attacking 3rd.

We were short on goals last season and I'd take the odd kicking off the likes of everton if it means going for 3 pts instead of 1

Just like to expand upon De Guzman! I appreciate he had a tough time of it in Villarreal, as far as game time goes, and if my memory serves me correctly I'm sure that Laudrup did say that he would take some time to get match fit, but surely we don't want that to be at the cost of our progress this season. Ki I know can play deep and has been used as cover at the back, but to me he has already shown, that he is a much better player directing the midfield going forward, and I see him as direct competition for De Guzman's position. My problem with De Guzman is that he has not shown any where near the desire or energy to track back or do the dirty work that Joe used to do so well, particularly when we are chasing the ball. Maybe it's just fitness, but I have my doubts...........<ok>

I have to agree with Dragon. Let's just hope it is a settling in period to possibly a more physical league, because against Sunderland with 10 men he did look a lovely footballer.

Just like to see him break up a few opposition attacks.

Or is there a reason why he is not tracking back?

I recon thats not his main role he is there to supply the killer passes and be a danger going forward you cant deny that is what he is doing. But he does need a player alongside who can track back and win possession (Britton) without him then we will struggle to control MF.

I do think the problem we had last season was that LB and JA where too much alike yes we looked better in MF but The ST didn't get the service and IMO Siggy saved our season, without him the season would have been a different story.

Now with Siggy's Replacement Michu looking awsome and the extra threat that DeGuz brings in attack our game has changed, And I for one think its a positive change.

if you look at JA @ Liverpool the reason why he will be good there is the partnership between him and Gerrard and DeGuz will play a similar role for us with LB.

Relegation will come from 3 out of.....reading,norwich, qpr, saints and swansea, So if we can be better than three of these teams then i will be happy....I cant see laudrup doing better than Brendan as things are at the moment....

I beg to differ! yes we do say we expect to have a relegation battle but we only say it not to get our hopes too high! but I for one think we are still a club on the up and will finish around 11-14th.

2 bad games 1 with a make shift defence against a possible top 4 team and its the end of the world. Come on!

No its not the end of the world but up to now i think Brendan is a better coach. our midfield is not playing the same and our passing has gone down hill. Im hoping laudrup is going to do better than he has been built up to do. so far i cant see where he is better than Brendan. Im not going to panic yet as its to early but so far he has not impressed many of us who live and breath swans....maybe he will show signs soon...i hope so anyway....

I do feel we have improved in one area, the ability to score goals after going behind. We would never have come back from loosing twice, to get a point against Sunderland under Brendan, as we did with Laudrup.

I live and breath Swans..... But i am also a realist and for some reason you are choosing to ignore the stats. How many games in did it take for us to score 1 goal from open play last season?

You also got to bear in mind that we have a new manager and lost very important players 2 midfielders, defender and winger. what do you expect?

I predict that we will get 7 points from our next 3 games!
