Lets just assume we can....I have no idea if we could to be honest, but lets just assume should we?
    I will start

It seems Manning started like a train at Rotherham, but infact he is not first pick now. He has played 19 out of 25 matches but infact started only 13 of those (and subbed off in 4) for a team 22nd in the league. Yes he may play better in a better team but....

With a bit of bad luck (sorry) Australia might do quite well in the Asian Cup.
Luongo will be away for 6 matches.
Cameron has disappeared into a black injured hole
Hall (if he is to be classed as a DCM) is there or there about, but not quite who we are looking for.

We therefore have Freeman, Scowen and Cousins as first choice. and Chair as back up (I haven't forgotten anyone have I????) Is that enough?

(BOS, Eze, Pawel, Oteh, Wells, Hemed (!) Smith, Smyth (if he stays passed Jan) I am putting in an attacker role, although Pawel has shown good defensive abilities and is good at protecting his full back)

We have no opportunity to get anyone in with the transfer embargo.

    What should we do?

Last year on here some were eulogising about him and young Smyth too. This year it’s Eze (who I think is immensely talented but inconsistent and needs a break).

I’d bring back Manning in a heartbeat.

Bring him back. Fresh legs in the team will give Steeve a chance to change things around. We cannot buy this window and any extra help in keeping our good run going can only help. maybe training with the loanees will prove to be as beneficial as it as done to others

If Manning does return play him, if not we will have to use what we have whether it's yesterday's midfield or even some of the U23's, we don't really have much choice if injuries take their toll. This is where squads are tested in the extreme with games coming thick and fast...

    That's about my thinking too.

I'd say that if we bring Manning back, perhaps think of sending Chair out on loan for experience.

I get the feeling Cousins would always be first pick but I do like Manning and would give him a chance (although I do think Cousin's has been doing much better this season).

    Bring him back tomorrow please
He is a better passer than all of them
He releases it much quicker than Freeman
He tackles nearly as well as Scowen and is better on the ball
On Saturday everyone in the crowd saw, from minute one, that Cousins and Scowen is not the answer

Yes. That pass that lead to our goal at Reading last season was brilliant (did he mean it?)

I don't think Cousins really knows how to play football. So in that case, I would bring Manning back.

Just don’t get your expectations too high. He was loaned out for a reason and hasn’t been playing for Rotherham for a reason. But probably the best like for like replacement for Luongo - runs a lot and tackles - that we have.

    We have a clairvoyant!

Presumably recalled to offer an alternative while Lunogo is away.

Looks as though he is back...
I agree with sb_73, don't get your hopes up. He was loaned out for a reason, and unlike Eze at Wycombe, he has not excelled

But he will be in a better team, with more of a plan, his role ( if he plays as Luongos replacement) will be defined. He could do well. He knows he has 6-7 matches to cement his future with us... otherwise it will probably be doors in the summer.
Remember Cousins is out of contract this summer, so there is a definite opportunity for Manning.

I hope he grabs it with both hands

Don’t see it that way tbh. Cameron won’t stay fit but even when Cameron and Luongo are fit and available he’s competing with Scowen to be first reserve with Cousins distant fifth. Always going to have players missing in that position.

Where is Goss? What’s up with Hall?
