Yes, it was grim viewing, but let's be thankful for a point we did very little to deserve. We've lost 3 on the bounce against Norwich, so a point feels like a decent result despite the performance being shocking. I'm not going to judge the team until after 10 games. Onwards and upwards, you Rsssssssssssssss
Considering our recent record against Norwich and the fact our last points away from home were a long time ago I'm taking this as a decent point. Can only get better from here.
Really? next 8 games, i predict 4 points.... Man City (A) Chelsea (H) Tottenham (A) West Ham (H) West Brom (A) Everton (H) Arsenal (A) Reading (H)
Who predicted 5 home wins in our final 5 home games last year??? I see no hands up...... How can we grumble when we take a point from an away game against our bogey team, especially when we didn't even turn up! Lets get behind MH and let him get the squad to gel, we know he can do it, onwards and upwards, well I hope so. U R'ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
The problem is that it is point against a team some bookies have tipped for the drop BUT as per my previous thread, not going overboard with negativity. We are going to improve!
It's a improvement on the away record from last year. Grim it may have being, but the table doesn't record how the points are won at the end of the season.
We wont pick up any points from our next 3 games The 3 games after that we need to get 2 wins to really get our season going and hopefully we will beat Reading as well
Players to come in and eventually there will be a proper shape to the team, hopefully, there will be some quality to add to the team for next Saturday which may just be too soon to give us realistic hope of anything but a thrashing but it must get better. As I said last week, September will make or break MH...
Plus, how many canary fans have we peed off today???? Of course I wanted 3 points but I will have to settle for beefforhire rolling out his rubbish mockney remark again. No 6 points for you this year
The next three games would be hard whatever "form" we are in. I reckon that there is a point in there somewhere, We might as well get them out of the way now. IF (sorry, when) we do begin to gel, which we should, and the defence gets sorted out we will be in a better place to get points from the more achievable games. BUT .... they have their work cut out in the next couple of weeks to get it sorted.
Reality check for both clubs, this game. Norwich regained their confidence and were fluent and creative as ever. Rangers all stars, being the away team on the back of a home drubbing, fumbled and bumbled our way to our first point on the road since last autumn. For both clubs a stepping stone back into this season's competition in different ways. Norwich will be asking themselves with all their possession and inventiveness, how come they they failed to get the win against a side so obviously out of sorts. Rangers will be asking themselves what needs to been done to forge a squad full of largely competent individuals into a capable and confident unit. Oddly enough, history suggests those next three games against City away, Chelsea home and Tottenham away could be a blessing in disguise. The pressure's off to some extent. We're not expected to get points from those games and yet we always seem to do better against the leading lights. If we can approach these games with the right 'ils ne passeront pas' attitude, could go a long way to helping us sort ourselves out longer term. So was I pleased with our performance today? No, not really. Not whilst watching the game anyway. Too little cohesion and lots of unforced errors. The expression in Green's eyes confirm he's as nervous as we are. More butter-fingers moments, rooted to the goal line with absolutely no command of his area and all too many hoof outs invariably giving away possession. Hoilett was much better last week than this. Cisse less isolated but now having problems with timing his runs to avoid being pulled up for offside. Onouha looked the safer bet at CB; and Park and Mackie, whilst evidently limited, tended to do the right things on the ball most of the time. Mark Hughes? Let's get this right shall we? He's not the friggin' Messiah, nor universal panacea for our troubles! He's just one of a number of largely capable prem managers there to do a job for an otherwise unfashionable little club like ours. He clearly doesn't have all the answers and is as fallible as anyone, as shown but his subbing of SWP for Hill last week and failure to pull the already carded and vulnerable Hill off before half time today (at that stage I found myself consciously preferring to concede again rather than get reduced to 10 men). But overall, have to be happy with a point - especially with one coming away at Norwich where it seems we never do well anyway. Feeling much better this week than last, that's for sure.
you make a god point about getting those 3 games out of the way being a good thing If we lose the next 3 but put in a better performance I will still be feeling happier, even if we are bottom
I think it will be our performances in the next three games that will make or break MH, more clueless performances resulting in humiliating defeats will undoubtedly have the trigger-finger itching. Improved performances, even in defeat, will show we are moving in the right direction and can eventually find safety...
thankful? I'm ecstatic. My link was poor and when i came back to the computer for the 2nd half the picture was still distored and I had no sound. it looked like norwich had gone 2-1 up. As most have said the 2nd half was dire and at the end I went down the bar for a couple of calming beers. totally confused when iIback because because you're are saying we got a point. Went onto BBC sport and the table is saying we are 13th and played 3 games with 2 points. I think it'll be better if I go out later for a few beers.
