Last night's game wasn't pleasant ( if you're a Gills fan ). It highlighted the difference in quality, between a club like Gillingham, and a club that has more chance of attracting slightly better players....
... and I say slightly better - because - Portsmouth were not overly special.... If they were, they wouldn't have missed 3 of the 4 glorious chances to score in the second half !

NO -Portsmouth will probably get themselves up into the Championship - but Sunderland and Ipswich will tell them that it won't be easy.... and if it isn't going to be easy for ' BIG ' clubs in L1, what chance has a club which ( Evans keeps saying ), has the lowest budget ?

If we are to accept the claim by Evans ( lowest budget ), then it follows that the quality of players won't be anywhere near the best !..... And, our performances, in at least 4 of the 7 league games, proves this point.

So - what is the prognosis ? - Don't expect much. The early season points accumulated, are very welcome - but - have largely been achieved against other 'smaller' / 'lower quality' sides - or in the case against Oxford - by sheer daylight robbery !....

We've mentioned our status in the past. I have said that we are where we are - a middling/ lower 3rd tier football team. We will have the occasional success - but balanced with too much abject failure. I have said that my heart craves success - but my head knows that (( as things stand )), we won't get it..... I have always said that I don't mind losing - as long as the players give 100% effort.... I will always support the team -- but-

If people have been using ifollow this season, I fear that they won't have been impressed. They will certainly have been starved of entertainment -- and why would they pay even £ 10 for last night --- when they could have been watching Champions League football '' for no extra cost '' at the same time....

We all have opinions about the CL , but you can't ignore the quality of the football... Who actually enjoys the ball just being lumped up - aimlessly - in the air ?? -- not all the bloody time ! I can tell brb that I need to watch football on Sky & BT to purge myself of the crap that Gills give me.

What was on offer from The Gills last night will do nothing to attract people back to Priestfield next August.-- by which time we might be in L2 ( or out of business )........ The only idiots left who will blindly part with good money to watch The Gills, will be fools like me.
