Lets be honest how many thought we would get anything at Blackburn. It was a game that would have been a bonus, if we had got points there. It looks as if we gave a good account of ourselves. Onwards and up wards.
Sorry that's not good enough. We didn't expect anything at Watford and we won. The defence has been staring us in the face for years now asking us to sort it our and we've been ignoring it. Unless 2! defenders are brought in we don't have a hope in hell
From radio commentary; There seemed to be a lack of tempo and perhaps spirit from our play. In fact not too dissimilar to the FA Cup game against Blackburn last month. I'll wait until the video before any more comment.
Blackburn were favourites and it doesnt matter which clubs we win or lose as long as we pick the points up. We have played 4 and won half which is what the board has asked for. I said after the last game that with the tactics we were playing it was very defensive and we didnt do much going forward. Sounds like we didnt defend well in this game and stats show we again didnt get forward and create chances. The defence is still a problem and needs addressing but it seems no manager will drop Fonts for this to happen. And sorry but Elliott is not half the player he used to be and we cant expect much from him given the long injuries he has had.
Shinys right its easy to say we thought we would not get anything from Blackburn,of course you expected something after winning 2 on the bounce especially following on from the results vs Ipswich and Watford including a new manager. You only needed to look at the score predictions (based on blind optimism) most of you thought other than Shiny that you would win and score at least 2 goals against Blackburn. Time to move on to a massive game vs Forest next up perhaps O Driscoll has a few scores to settle and may play himself Over at Rovers we have been fortunate to win three on the bounce and next play Chetenham who like Watford are on a roll, realistically it looks like a loss for us but you never know we might pick up a draw as they will be expecting to beat us. Needs to be sorted - simples. I just hope Sean has some red hot pokers in the fire because we need to improve now, not next month.
SOD speaks- http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130202-odriscollpostblackburn-633138.aspx Bristol City boss Sean O'Driscoll believes his team's defensive frailties were exposed in the 2-0 defeat to Blackburn. The visitors were punished for switching off as Jordan Rhodes he notched up his 100th career league goal with his brace at Ewood Park. Rhodes latched on to a loose ball after a Morten Gamst Pedersen cross was not cleared and he later raced on to a long pass from Danny Murphy to dispatch the second. O'Driscoll said: "In this division set-plays play a massive part to concede from a second phase from a corner is disappointing but apart from that at half-time, we felt okay. "I thought we could score a goal and were terrific at the start of the second half, but Danny Murphy hauls a ball back and we're two down. "It's the first time we've had this sort of problem to solve but felt we went about it the wrong way. "Lots of endeavour but we lost our shape and structure and you can't do that in this division, but for an hour I thought we were terrific."
