..... unless proved wrong. I like what Cattermole is saying even though a little of it is a dig at his treatment last season. We can all choose whether or not we believe he's correct but I'm sure we all hope he's right. He's saying all the right things and I particularly like the fact that they're looking to carry on our end of season form. The players who were new, last season, have now had time together and the manager has had a pre-season with everyone. “As people know, I wasn’t really involved last summer,” said Cattermole. “I watched the games at the start of last season and I think you’ll see a different Sunderland this season in terms of everyone knowing their jobs. “Everything has gone great through pre-season. “It’s been very positive and I think we’ve carried on from where we left off last season. “We’ve got to take that into Saturday and look to start the season on the front foot.” Can't wait for the season to start. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...different-proposition-season-insists-7591523?
I think he's stumbled on Paolo's biggest failing. I was at the Fulham game and we were set up in a similar style to now, we kept the ball beautifully. Paolo spent preseason on fitness and setting us up to play the ball out on from the back, but second game in he scrapped it saying we weren't good enough to play that way. Poyet comes in, sets us up that way and rest is history.
The contrast from last summers farcical shenanigans and this seasons professional, structured and classy pre season is enormous. Gus Poyet is a relaxed, calm and classy manager who has prepared us well all summer and recruited well IMO. No scatter gun approach from him and Congleton, rather a studious and professional recruitment drive. I'm as impressed with Poyet today as I was on his appointment and I am thoroughly looking forward to the new season. It cant come quick enough.
