Unfortunately football fans have proved time and again they are not to be trusted. When was the last time a cricket fan ran onto the pitch and punched the bowler. These other sports get to drink alcohol because it hasn't caused trouble in the past. A minority of football fans constantly fail to live up to these standards and so spoil it for everyone else.
The bans on alcohol and restricted selling around grounds has been very effective with suppressing hoolganism. I'll admit I enjoy a good pint or two at a rugby game but I would rather not see it brought back to football.

    Agree totally, B-C.
A day out at the cricket (I don't do rugby) is largely about banter and frequent trips to the bar <ok>

Like you, I can't see that ever returning to football.
Half-full can = potential missile, etc.

Basically it's all about clubs trying to source extra revenue streams - and good luck to them in that quest.

Alchohol and depresion don't mix, you'll have to replace the burger vans with Samaritan drop in centres.
