Tom Huddlestone has decided to grow his hair and insists he will not stop until he next finds the net – all in aid of charity.

The midfielder recently set himself the challenge but was met with a voice of doubt from one of his friends that he would actually see it through.

So by committing himself to raising money for Cancer Research UK, Tom has all the inspiration he needs to steer clear of the barber shop until he is back on the scoresheet.

And now he is calling on your support!

Tom aims to raise £75,000 for a charity close to his heart and is hoping fans will help him reach his target.

You can donate at Tom’s JustGiving page, http://www.justgiving.com/huddlefro.

He said: “I’d been thinking about growing my hair for some time and when I told one of my friends that I would do so until I scored my next goal, he didn’t believe me!

*“So doing something for charity at the same time gives me a clear reason to do this and I am determined to see it through.

“I have lost family members to cancer so it is a charity I strongly believe in. Any way fans can help me raise money would be greatly appreciated.”

We will keep you updated on the progress of Tom’s new ‘fro’ as the growth continues…

The 24-year-old is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, so you have time to get behind the cause before Tom is back in action and the clippers threaten to make a re-appearance!

Hmm, this could get quite silly if he doesn't score for a while <laugh> I imagine he'll get desperate and ask to take a penalty!

Good on the lad though, you can't fault him for doing it.

Isn't he out for at least another month?

If he gets the dye out, then he could end up with one of these:

Valderrama looks remarkable similar to Afroed from the Hair Bear Bunch

According to Physioroom(I know, I know) he's not back until mid December <yikes>

Given his goals for us so far, I think we can expect it will be a cracker!

huddlestone is the best english midfielder... im shocked spurs let him go, all he needed was regular games.. the way he plays the ball is just unbelievable, name a better play at that in the premier league? you can't name one.. i don't want to mock but he really is unreal and as a hull city fan since the division 3 days, he is a joy to watch and gives me a tear at times, how could a player so good be forgotten by england? it's an absolute privilege to see him week in week out to see him play for the club i love, he is an utter legend

time to change my signature tomorrow!

He's a good player but there's a big difference between playing well for Hull and being good enough to play for a top 6 side.

He was certainly good enough to play for us and I notice how much of a 'top 6 side' we are without him (or a better replacement). He is in his prime now and I personally would swap him for any one of the plethora of midfield warriors we have in our squad, none of whom seem capable of giving a match-winning performance in the way that Huddlestone did yesterday

It sort of sums up what we are now, a fairly boring pragmatic team. Our exciting players like Benny and Tommy no longer playing for us.
I would much rather Huddlestone than any of our other central midfielders right now.
All this " they are not good enough for a top 4 team" is rubbish. Player like BAE, Lennon and Huddlestone got us 4th place. I can't see this current crop anywhere near that. What are the odds we score more than 1 goal today? We have scored 8 goals in 9 matches at home ALL season. Hull nearly scored that many yesterday in one match.

They were part of that squad, however we also had VDV, Bale and Modric.
