So the bidding starts. ....Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has revealed they have received several enquiries for midfield star Charles N'Zogbia. N'Zogbia has never hidden his desire to play at a higher level and Whelan is resigned to losing the Frenchman this summer. The likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Sunderland have all been linked with a move for the winger and Whelan expects N'Zogbia's future to be resolved in the next fortnight. "There is quite a lot of interest in Zoggy. He has said to me I've enjoyed my time at Wigan but I want to move on to other things," Whelan told the Wigan Evening Post. "He's very proud now of playing for France again and he feels a bigger club would be better for him for selection for France, for which we have to agree and I've said we will not stand in his way. Enquiries "There have been plenty of enquiries but the season is still a bit away yet and the transfer market is only just beginning to kick in. They're all on holiday but we'll come together in a fortnight and sort it. "If a player comes in saying he's unhappy playing for Wigan Athletic, I want to move - I'm not going to say you can't move. I'm going to say okay, we'll put you on the list, try and find you a club, as long as we get the right fee, we're going to let you go. "If people want to employ someone, they should have the right to do that."
I think he'd have walked across broken glass to come here last summer, however I think we've missed the boat, his stock has risen and I feel he'll be off somewhere else.
Not being smug or owt but I reckon he's on his way back to NUFC. Especially after what Cabaye said yesterday to the French press. Also, Pardew today said he expects another top target will be confirmed and signed in about ten days time and at the same time Whelan said he expects Zogs' future to be concluded within the next two weeks. I reckon it's almost nailed on UNLESS Arsenal or Spurs come in for him. I doubt he'll go to Liverpool because he and Carroll hate each other, see NUFC Jan 2009.
I still honestly reckon we could get him. I don't see why he would want to go back to the mags when they've slated him for leaving. It's like us buying back B£nt, it just doesn't seem right almost. But I suppose it's basically the highest bidder wins with Whelan. I would pay the £10million or so for him straight off!
Should have paid the extra wedge when we had the chance, fraid Quinnie and Brucie ainT good enough in the wheeler dealer industry.
Many times I slated y'all for wanting to bring him in, especially during the Jan TW, he'd done nowt really for Wigan, they were near enough bottom of the pile, and I couldn't see where you where coming from. Now, however, after the second half of the season, it'd be safe to say that without him, Wigan would be gone, and he's proven to me and others just how good he can be. Like some have said, we've missed the boat, don't think he'll go to LFC though, that leaves NUFC and Spurs. I know where I'd go.
