Just arrived for a week’s spring break on Dartmoor. Luckily there’s a pub only 2 minutes walk away and it’s nice and warm in the van!

Not sure if this has been posted, but apparently Ant McPartlen of Ant & Dec was arrested for drink-driving yesterday after his car hit another one, injuring a 3 year old girl. Words fail me...

 

Perhaps the law could do a public service and lock both of them (Ant & Dec) away.

 

I thought Ant was the blonde one. I must’ve looked like a right twat all these years

 

No they always stand with Ant on the left and Dec on the right, so it’s easy to remember who is who!

Not excusing what he did, but the situation is a lot more complex. He's been battling drink and drug addiction for months if not longer. He's been in and out of rehab and now going back in. Now I'm not an addict so I can't really understand what he's going through but it's not like he got smashed for no reason whatsoever AKA Rooney. He's got a serious problem and is getting help so I do have some sympathy for him.

I agree, but the feeling is that he came out of rehab too early, and so this relapse was almost inevitable. Very sad all round, but he has to take some of the responsibility.

I'm not sure what to think on this one, if he had been just an ordinary bloke, the media and the general population on social media would hang him out to dry. Celebs seem to be treated differently when they **** up.
There's no excuse for drink driving...

 

The much loved celebs get treated differently for sure. I like Ant & Dec (ducks), however, even with the “issues” he has been going through, there is no excuse for drinking and driving.

 

It's not like he's short of a few quid for a taxi

 

Yep that is the bit that gets me. There is no excuse for Drink Driving, but in a 'normal' person I can sort of understand they may think I'll risk it as I have no money for a taxi. For a man worth £60 million, there really is no excuse.

For the record, if I am driving I don't even have one drink. Never have, never will. I am known to like a tipple too, so there really is no excuse if I can refrain from drink driving then everyone can.

 

I just think he wasn't in a good place and wasn't thinking straight and acted recklessly. There is no excuse for what he did but I don't think he was thinking rationally at the time.

 

It's good to know that everyone here is as pure as the driven snow and not once have they popped into the local on the way home, downed a couple of pints and driven home. I never have!
