Don't remember that one. The only breakfast cereal/goalkeeper connection I remember is Peter Shilton at Nottm Forest being told off by Brian Clough for eating three Shredded Wheat [because, in a backhanded effort to sell more cereal, the challenge that you weren't supposed to accept was to try to eat that many].
Still on the ground in Winchester. With temp falling below zero I think it might still be here in the morning
Well, you can rely on Winchester to be a bit like the rest of Britain. [Pause] Just looked out the window. Not a trace. Mind you, hardly a cloud in the sky, so it must be a bit chilly out there. But is Southampton going to pass a proper winter by for a third time in as many years.? In about 3-4 weeks time we'll start to come out of whatever qualifies as winter these days. We used to get regular laying snow and salted roads when I was lad. Now it seems like we get a few days of frost. Climatologists predicted it though, and sheltered places like Torquay and Southampton occasionally pass proper winters by these days. Soft Southerners is not inaccurate. A relative of mine got his first smartphone recently. He tells me his BBC Weather app is invariably wrong, and it's the third one he's tried. He lives in Shirley. I've got him to pay close attention to the inshore shipping forecast, as he listens to the radio at those times. Remarkably, [or maybe not] the shipping forecast is almost unerringly accurate in comparison. Which is why I was taken by surprise by the snow around 5pm, as it was my regular BBC weather app that had also predicted it much earlier. IIRC, my reaction at the time had been to laugh. I guess it must get things correct sometimes. Not reliably so though. Not here.
Nothing here on the English Riviera. Crisp sunshine. Looking forward to walking the dogs at lunch (With my thermals on)
Mrs Onionman has just counted the loose change around the house in various jars and bottles. £800! Guess who's choosing what it's spent on. Apparently it's not "real" money. Vin
