The official site seems to be bigging up Ruben Bover's contribution to the last three friendlies and it would appear in the Bristol match he had the assist for both goals. What do we think the near future is for him, will he make the starting line up for the first real match.

Also notice that, although he joined up with the team in Spain, Alonso didn't start in either match. Any thoughts?

Alonsos still resting as the spanish season finished later than us, as for bover i think he could make an impact, but i see him as someone who might do a job later in the season, but the promise is there.

Don't know if CP or AD know the answer yet... Think he has given them a huge problem, as I doubt they were intending of using him other than the odd appearance and JPT games- but sounds like he has adapted more quickly than thought.

I see him coming off the bench to begin with - hope we nurture him correctly

Agreed that the Spanish season finished a couple of weeks after ours, but of greater importance is the fact that ours starts a couple of weeks before theirs and if Alonso is going to make the starting line up I would have like to see him in one of the 45 minute sessions of warm weather practice.

I thought Alonso would start the season with Stephens but I think (from reports) Hollands has looked good so he might have his work cut out

It looks like we have, at last, a midfield set up for all scenarios. It may give Sir Chris a selection headache, but that can only be a good thing.

    Yep I think it's a GREAT thing

Ideally would want a bit more competition for the defensive positions but that's me just being a bit picky I guess

I think you're right, SC - I don't think the management expected RB-I to be quite as good as he's turned out. There were some lovely touches in the Welling game and he was always looking for the ball and laid off well.

The only problem he's going to have is that he really needs to up his intake of pies, curries, kebabs and suet puddings and hit the gym several times a week or else he's going to get flattened in most League One midfield dogfights. The potential for injury of a player his build is going to be quite high.

I'd love to see him start, but he may be a ways down in the pecking order methinks.

up to Christmas I can see him coming on for the last 20mins of games against tiring defences <ok>

I could see him top scorer in a 'goals/mins on pitch' table
